I know the market is mad right now, but…
Lockdown made me realise I’d rather shoot myself in the head than go back to the commute I was doing, and our company are very keen for us to be back in the office by the end of the year. With this in mind I am selling my house. I asked the agent not to put a board up as I suspected it might be a popular property and didn’t want people knocking on. It has proved popular and has a huge number of people booked in for an open house day on the weekend.
It doesn’t have a board up but you wouldn’t need to be a detective to work out which house it was from the external picture (think like a distinctive plant in the front garden that sort of thing).
At 4:30ish today I was working in the living room, having an end of day catch up with my boss, I had lots of physical paperwork including some fairly confidential information for this meeting, and someone knocks on the door. Thinking its probably someone dropping a parcel off for next doors amazon habit, I ignore it.
Then this woman starts banging on the window, holding up a finger and mouthing “one minute” I go and answer and say, sorry I’m on a work call do you need help?
She then proceeds to say she’s seen my house online and is really interested can she have a look round, I say no, I’m on a work call, the house isn’t ready for viewings (kitchen full of drying laundry and drying dishes, bed had been stripped but not made up again yet etc, not to mention the amount of paperwork with confidential info I’ve got out for the meeting), she persists and says oh I’ll be five minutes I won’t interrupt your call.
I’m thinking, you already have you pest, politely say no, please call the agent. I go to start to close the door and she leans through and says, overly sweetly, “oh I’d so much rather deal with a lovely vendor like you direct than an agent” (I had definitely not been giving off “lovely” vibes) to which I ended up snapping and saying “and I’d rather deal with the agent, I need to return to my call now” and closing the door basically in her face. She glared at me through the window for a few seconds before walking off. I expect shes not in a proceed-able position and the agents have already said she can’t view (my request), and was chancing her arm.
This whole thing probably lasted about a minute but it’s really pissed me off.
I completely understand why someone would chance their arms for a viewing, but surely at the first no you just give up?!

That would drive me nuts! Lucky you though having such a lot of interest. I hope you get a good price for it.

The brass neck!! Shock
Yanbu!

MintyCedric · 28/07/2021 18:01

I wouldn't dream of just knocking on the door in the first place...she sounds like a nut job!

TheSkatesOfCoachBombay · 28/07/2021 18:04

She was rude and annoying.

Though if I didn't like my neighbours, sounds like the perfect buyer 😂😂

ShaunaTheSheep · 28/07/2021 18:06

So rude. That’s why we didn’t go on Rightmove until SSTC, and no board.

Grainjar · 28/07/2021 18:12

Exactly the kind of buyer you don't want. Imagine dealing with her in a chain.

StoneofDestiny · 28/07/2021 18:40

She is bonkers

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 28/07/2021 18:49

Yes route it through the agent, one of the things they should do is ensure the viability of any potential buyer...

A chancer knocked on my gate for a look around.
Poisoned my dog , who greeted her.
My dog died three days later .
Found out that other people on my estate had suffered the same.
