When to get fit-to-fly Covid test done?

My aunt's flight is on Monday at 3pm. The test centre at Gatwick airport say they'll give out results by 10pm the next day. However, in some cases, it might take up to 48 hours.

I'm thinking of booking her in for 6pm on Friday. That'll keep her within the 72 hour window and having 3 hours to spare for delays. Does that sound ok?

Or is it better idea to book her in for Saturday morning? Worst case - we get results in by Monday morning. Her flight is at 3pm on monday.

You need to check what is required for the country you are flying to. For example Spain want 72 hours prior to landing time not take off.

DD worked it back from her landing time, with a little allowance for any delays.

Her flight landed Friday evening.
She did her test Wednesday morning - allowed for the full 48 hours, but had some leeway without going over the 72 hours.

Yeah check which country - the USA says 72 hours before the departure of the flight, rather than arrival. So for a flight at 5pm Sunday, you can test anytime from 5pm Thursday...but if it can take up to 48 hours to get the result then really you only have a window of between 5pm Thurs and 5pm Friday to test.

If your flight is 8+ hours then departure vs arrival makes a big difference!
