Me and dh are having a debate about something that happened to me today.
I was walking along a road with my son when this woman asked me directions to a car wash near by. After i pointed it out to her ( We could see it from where we were) After that she asked me to go into her car to show her. I said no obviously but she said please get in and show me. At this point i just left. aibu to call police

YANBU at all

RLOU30 · 26/07/2021 22:01

Yikes. YANBU.

Xmassprout · 26/07/2021 22:02

I would phone them. I would be concerned about her being a danger to others, or that maybe she was in danger herself

feelingmehtoday · 26/07/2021 22:02

How odd...

happydays2345 · 26/07/2021 22:03

I don't Understand what the debate is is he saying you should minimise it and not contact the police? You should definitely

PumpkinKlNG · 26/07/2021 22:04

I wouldn’t, I mean you can but they won’t do anything

SnarkyBag · 26/07/2021 22:05

Unless you have her car plate details it’s probably a waste of time but you could log it online as there may be other reports.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 26/07/2021 22:06

Unless she was agressive, tried to force you in the car I'm not sure that the police can do anything.

PurplePansy05 · 26/07/2021 22:08

I would report it, they may have had similar reports already and perhaps will know more than you and will actually do what's needed depending on the circumstances. I'd also post this in the neighbourhood group. Like others have said, maybe she needs help. Or maybe she is being used to approach women/girls/children this way and who knows for what purpose. You just can't know, but this is a very odd behaviour.

plodalong12 · 26/07/2021 22:12

Clearly I’m confused… why would you call the police? What do you think they would say? (I appreciate I live in a busy city so may be different for those in quieter areas). I can’t imagine the conversation?

“Police please, there’s a woman who just asked me to get into her car”.
“Did you get in”?
“No”.
“Did she try and force you in”?
“No”.
“Well then…what do you want”?Confused

onetimeusername2021 · 26/07/2021 22:14

Dh thinks it pointless as they wouldnt do anything which is true but id feel alot better just incase its its something more. Im going to see if i xan report online

They will right it down in their special book of things that Mumsnet told posters to log with them Grin
Embracelife · 26/07/2021 22:18

Post on your local next door group
If someone has had similar

Glad it's not just me.
Hopdathelf · 26/07/2021 22:19

Normally I do a huge eye roll at people logging non events with the police but this one is so weird I think you should. You were sensible enough not to get in the car but someone else who is more vulnerable might not be. Or anyone who gets in might open themselves up to accusations of theft, etc.

CompleteBarstool · 26/07/2021 22:23

How old is your son?

Do you think it was an attempt to abduct him in some roundabout way?

Redyellowpinkgreenpurple · 26/07/2021 22:25

It could be an important link to other cases!
If it was a man would you think twice?

Email/on line form. With description. And that it was unusual as you could both see the destination.

It is weird.

MissingEveryoneSoMuch · 26/07/2021 22:34

I’d report it. I’d also put it on my local FB group in case anyone else has experienced the same. It’s really odd.

Neondisco · 26/07/2021 22:35

Pp's pulling the sarky face....

As other pp have said she could be in danger or a danger to others or link to other incidents cases.

It's not hugely difficult to understand that unusual behaviour can be a sign of these things?
