My mum was invited to her friend's, but it was unclear whether the invitation included dinner or was just for drinks (I have no idea why she couldn't just ask, but that's not the point of this thread!)

She asked her other friend, also invited if she knew, explaining that it was difficult to plan when she didn't know if she needed to plan for dinner, or if she should have a big lunch (they don't have takeaways or anything where they live) and friend number 2 thought it was hilarious that my mum plans meals into every day. Apparently this friend can go days just nibbling on crisps and nuts!!

I always plan my days around food! My mum and I thought this was totally normal. Her friend is obviously an extreme example, not eating a meal for days, but surely most people plan meals into their days??

So AIBU to plan my days around food?

Oh god I definitely need to know if I'm getting food. I can't go hours without it and I certainly can't drink on an empty stomach.

I know everyone is different but I do think I'm the normal one GrinGrin dhs family eat like sparrows, they can't understand my way at all. If they have bbqs I have to eat beforehand because they serve one burnt burger or a cold in the middle sausage. I always eat before their bbqs. Another time they had a 50th party, I asked if there was food, they said nibbles, so I had dinner at 5pm and the party was 8.30pm, dh mentioned we ate dinner and they freaked and cancelled our small platter of food, there was 7 of us, mine are all teens so could eat 6 dinners in a day. We were starving by 11pm so left and got mc donald's.

There's lots of people who don't say if there's food, it annoys me, i don't know why the secrecy. You're sitting there waiting for something and then nothing...

When I met dh first and would go to his house or visit his siblings, I would put a sandwich in my handbag and eat it in the bathroom Blush I was too nervous to ask for a bit of bread.

I'm a feeder, so everyone knows they'll get well fed no matter what time of the day it is.
