Are there enough beds?

Feelingbad2 · 24/07/2021 21:08

There would be a double bed and a double sofa bed, 4 year old would end up in our bed anyway even if he had his own Grin

There is normally a double bed and a single sofa bed. You won’t fit five.

Everydayisawindingroad · 24/07/2021 21:10

You would be over the maximum occupancy for the room as well as fire regulations

Twinstudy · 24/07/2021 21:11

How old are the kids? I'd probably do it if they're young, teens not so much!

Feelingbad2 · 24/07/2021 21:11

I know the bed situation New, that is my AIBU….. we can physically fit 5 people in as the little one would sleep in our bed, but it’s not ‘allowed’

Honestly that sounds too stressful, I’d rather stay home and do local day trips than cram into a tiny space (those rooms are tiny)

Chunkymenrock · 24/07/2021 21:12

God, I'd hate that, crammed in like sardines. Have 2 rooms, but have you looked at booking sunday-tuesday? Those days usually work out much cheaper and if you book it as far ahead as possible, that will make it cheaper too.

2 young teens and a 4 yo

We wouldn’t like to be split up between two rooms really, not much fun, I will go back to the drawing board, I really wish more hotels did bigger family rooms

Hell no

Invisimamma · 24/07/2021 21:14

We stayed in one as a stop over a few weeks ago on holiday with 2dc. Tbh I wouldn't do it again it was hellish all being crammed in one room, it was hot, the kids pull out beds were squeaky and we all kept each other awake. We need our own space!

Grenlei · 24/07/2021 21:15

If all children were 5/6 or less, then I probably would, but 2 teens and a 4 yo? No way. You'll be cramped and it's over the room occupancy limits. Book 2 rooms.

fruitpastille · 24/07/2021 21:15

We've done it when en route. It was fine. Once youngest asleep the rest of us watched tv on low volume. You can call tbe individual hotel direct to check. Ours were a bit younger though.

fourandnomore · 24/07/2021 21:15

Lots of premier inns now have adjoining rooms and we’ve just paid £62 for a night for two of these rooms - worth a look!

thinkingaboutitall · 24/07/2021 21:17

You will have no room once suitcases etc are in as well

I don’t see what’s wrong with 2 separate rooms. You can spend all day/evening together and just sleep separately at night. How’s that “no fun?” You spend all day having fun together surely, why do 5 people need to snore next to each other in an undersized room for “fun”?

Sparklingbrook · 24/07/2021 21:17

That would be too much for me. 2 connecting rooms at the least.

OddBoots · 24/07/2021 21:18

You can often get a 1 or 2 bed apartment on Booking.com or similar for the same kind of price as 2 rooms in a premier inn, sometimes less.

Bluntness100 · 24/07/2021 21:19

If your kids were all small yes I’d consider it, but no way with two teens, you’re going to make them share a small sofa bed. I think when it gets to this level op it’s better to stay home and wait till you can afford two rooms that sounds like pure shit.

signandsingcarols · 24/07/2021 21:20

have you tried the youth hostel assoc? large family rooms, cheap price, we often get a 4 or even 5 berth room,

Bluntness100 · 24/07/2021 21:20

Suspect your teens would disagree with you there. 😂
EarringsandLipstick · 24/07/2021 21:22

Well it's definitely no fun to have 5 people, including 2 adults & 2 teens, in one room.

Really unfair on the teens.

I can't work out the problem with 2 rooms?

If you can't afford it, agree with PP, best no to go

JustLyra · 24/07/2021 21:22

Go with Premier Inn if you do. If you book a proper family room it's one single sofa bed, a camp/zed bed plus the king size bed.
I wouldn't do it in Travelodge as it could be a double sofa bed and the double bed.

Mummysausage36 · 24/07/2021 21:23

We just did this in a premier inn. We did check first with manager and they were fine. I suppose it depends on the hotel really our kids are 8,6&4 we had a double and two singles the smallest top and tailed it was fine we even got them to sleep in a bit as the blackout curtains are fab!!

TheFairyCaravan · 24/07/2021 21:23

Have a look on Air BnB. Me and DH booked a flat for one night that was cheaper than a Premier Inn.
