I'd imagine any family where they don't get above SSP would be reluctant to test since a positive result would mean 10 days on a hugely reduced income. From the start, I've felt that the government would have saved a lot of the spread of infection by subsidising sick pay at the same as furlough rate.

@Covidforever could she not get a postal test? I don't think LFTs prove anything.

My MIL was panicking that she would need to do a PCR test (she is a close contact of mine and so isolating) but she doesn't drive - she didn't know about the postal tests.

I don’t know anyone doesn’t mean it’s not happening though . There are a few colds going about but the people that I know that have felt under the weather are testing .
Of course as long as the majority are but it’s unrealistic to expect everyone to for a number of reasons.

No, it didn't appear with covid, but the amount of "you are selfish, you murderer" is fucking ridiculous now. Especially because it's lately being aimed at people who weren't selfish for year and something but just gave up now because they can't do it all anymore.

No. Some people really can't. I don't think many realise how broken some people are and one more even short isolation would break them. Either mentally or financially or both.

I keep to the rules still, but no. I don't test with every little symptom too. And I fully get why many people can't or believe they can't take it anymore so don't test
