To think hourly baby photos on social media is excessive

Some friends had a baby a few weeks ago and since then it’s been hourly photos on Facebook- every feed, ever single moment of every thing that the baby does (or doesn’t do as it’s only a few weeks old)

I know babies are cute and all and it’s their first but Jesus, 20 photos a day! I have had to unfollow them on Facebook.

Aibu to think it’s really OTT!! Is it a thing now to document every waking hour of your babies life on social media? It definitely wasn’t when my kids were young! Or do I sound old fashioned and out of touch?!

I tend to feel a bit sorry for people who constantly post pictures on social media. Definitely self esteem issues at play when there's an obsessive need for validation. Unfollow and ignore. I've done this a few times.

Equally weird is a friend posting photos of her baby with her name, date and time of birth, hospital, made available but every single photo has a massive emoji sticker placed over her face to conceal her identity.

It's bizarre. If you're worried about privacy you conceal the name and date of birth because that doesn't change but the appearance

It's absolutely bizarre

jeeeeeepers ...

identity theft here we come 🙄

its a pity there isn't a 'media' block button .. 😩

I know!!!!

But they place massive smiley emoji stickers over the babies face in every photo so we can't see her face. All babies look the bloody same pretty much. It's her name and dob they ought to have concealed

I have a friend with 3 kids, aged between 5-9, and she still does this. Sets of photos (at least 10 every time) of the kids posted several times a day, every single day. I get it, she loves her kids but Jesus wept... I barely ever take photos of my DS these days. I'd rather spend the time and have fun with him rather than put on a show for the Parent of the Year awards 🙄 (side note: she's genuinely a great mum, the photos are just a bit much).

I usually unfollow anyone who starts posting more than once a day about anything. Multiple posts about the same thing I find excessive, whatever the topic.

Personally, I am with you!
It's also a bit like rubbing it in the noses of those of us that are dealing with infertility.
I know I sound like a bitter old lady, but honestly, sometimes it's a trigger for very dark thoughts... A trigger warning is always appreciated.
On the other hand, even before dealing with this, I think posting so many baby or pet photos is excessive and for me it would be a sure unfollow.
