Smallish village so to be fair not a huge choice of friends so...
24 year old guy hanging out with 17 year old female cousin?
I'll be quite happy to be told iabu but personally for me at 24 I would have had no interest in my younger cousins other than the odd family gathering.
Would you find it unusual?

Smallish village and perhaps due to covid more wary to hang out with others/lack of opportunities to meet people. Even if there's more to it, it's not illegal

pleasedonttextmyman · 21/07/2021 13:10

no, it's not unusual.Confused

Starting a thread about it on the other hand...

JanetPondersley · 21/07/2021 13:12

Why does it matter if it is unusual?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 21/07/2021 13:15

You knew yabu or did you hope it will turn into pervert hunt that you needed to namechange?

3scape · 21/07/2021 13:15

Do they share an interest? I've never really been close to my cousins until recently as I now have a hobby in common with one. But some of my cousins have always got on and like to computer game and as they've got older, the age gaps become less significant and they now socialise together.

I think you should keep your nose out! I can't stand busybodies who are always looking for something to stir.

OhtheVulgarity · 21/07/2021 13:30

I started university at 17 and some of my friends were postgrads aged 23 to 25 or so. I don’t think it’s unusual.

MissMissTorrance · 21/07/2021 13:33

Not unusual if one of them is a newcomer and there's not much choice in way of pals to hang out with.

hawkehurstgang · 21/07/2021 14:02

No. Pretty normal ime.

toughdaay · 21/07/2021 14:12

I have over 20 cousins and most of us are fairly close so it seems fine to me.

Bluntness100 · 21/07/2021 14:13

Why are you being all judgey about it? They are mates ans get on. That’s fine.

RealBecca · 21/07/2021 14:19

OMG def shagging....

JE17 · 21/07/2021 14:49

At 17 I spent loads of time with my male cousin who is a few years older. We enjoyed each others company, nothing more to it than that.

RickJames · 21/07/2021 15:11

I would hang out with my youngest cousin a lot when she was in her teens and I was in my 20's. She was always an 'old' kid and so I would gladly spend time with her from about 14 onwards (6 years between us). One thing I will say is that we never went drinking together or met up with each others friends but we did lots of sports and shopping. Its nice having a friend/ cousin. In our community cousins are seen as important.
