Club vaccination- let down

So, my son has followed the rules (better than most adults), but it’s now looking likely he won’t be able to go to his first concert. He’s 18 in November and has booked a concert that will happen 2 weeks after his birthday. No chance of getting vaccinated and meeting the new COVID club requirements, which is so unfair when he’s already decided to get vaccinated long before today’s announcement. The youngsters have suffered so much and it just keeps going on.

Get on the Facebook pages for your local MASS vaccination Centre. The one localish to me has been advertising walk-ins for those within 3 months of their 18th birthday for a couple of weeks now.

Thank you everyone. Sounding off does help and I do have perspective. We are alive, relatively healthy and son is only having mild covid symptoms. We have decided to wait and reschedule our holiday abroad next year and the holiday company have agreed. Onwards and upwards. There will always be another concert and hopefully we can get him vaccinated soon.

If you are 17 years and 9 months you can be vaccinated in York now. It will be on its way

GnomeHat Its really the implications of COVID passports etc that is the problem, more so than catching it twice. If the government keep that double vaccinated people won’t have to isolate if coming back from abroad, or if they have been in contact with someone who has COVID, it will effect all those in the cusp of being 18.

It is awful for young people. I have two of my own. I just think it’s equally awful, if not worse, that people are getting vaccinated for access to services and fun activities, rather than for health reasons. Why are so many people on board with it? Being double vaxxed isn’t even stopping most people from catching, spreading or having severe symptoms of covid. I had it really bad in the first wave and was close to calling an ambulance for my breathing, so I know how bad COVID can get, but I have heard of many local people with similarly bad symptoms who are double vaccinated, and there is a belief among them that if they hadn’t been vaccinated they’d be dead. I know A LOT of people who had the virus in the first wave and were very ill, five who were hospitalised and one died. I know one who died from severe vaccine reaction. I know a lot of people who are still living in constant fea and barely leaving their homes. It’s all shit, but I don’t think vaccinating people who don’t need it and promising people freedom to coerce them to being vaccinated is actually solving the problem.
