To ask about varicose veins...

And whether you've ever managed to get rid of them through diet/treatments/pamper/magic/witchcraft etc? 😭

Mine has become worse over the years as I've gained weight and during pregnancy. It does run in my family on my mums side. Is there anything reasonable and not grim, that I can do to get rid or reduce ?

@Craftycorvid my apologies, bloody autocorrect 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not normally that unpleasant, I’m going to blame the heat today 🥵 sorry for jumping down your throat

So I’ve booked in for EVLA treatment for both legs, total £2850. EVLA is a new method of treating varicose veins without surgery. Instead of tying and removing the abnormal veins they are heated by a laser. The heat kills the walls of the veins and the body then naturally absorbs the dead tissue and the abnormal veins are destroyed.
Wondering if anyone else has done this recently.

I had both legs done about 4 years ago. I found the procedure uncomfortable and bordering on pain but not unbearable? Bit of a weird sensation. Recovery was very swift. You're having it done at the right time of year. I had it done in the spring and found wearing the support stockings afterwards very hot!

Four years on have they grown back at all ?

I had one leg done due to recurrent phlebitis in my early 30s. NHS. They were laser ablated first but that didn't work and I went back for manual stripping (they didn't get the dodgy valve). The other leg is not bad at all 10 years on and doesn't really need doing but if it does I will have to pay I think.

I only landed a referral as I'd been to the GP multiple times over about 11 years with it.

Mine have been stripped twice, at 28 and at 38, but twenty years have passed and I am limping as my knee is engorged and my leg is on fire in the evenings. Hoping the laser ablation will do its magic for me. Hadn't thought about it but October is the right time to do it seasonally. I had signed up for just one but when I sent photos I suddenly realised my right leg looked hideous as well and was advancing to a state similar to the left one, so for an extra £300 decided to get that one done, too.
