Who should pay the parking fine?

Afternoon all!

Abit of a lighthearted AIBU for you all to settle a debate between me and my mum 😅 (we're not arguing - it's just a lighthearted debate - we're both grown women)

I asked my mum to pick a parcel up for me that had been delivered to a collection point as I was unable to go & it was on my mums way home from work...she went to get the parcel but parked somewhere she shouldn't have and has now got a parking fine.

Who should pay? Me because I asked her to get the parcel, or her because she chose to park irresponsibly? 🙊

Thanks!

Your mum.

Why on earth would it be your responsibility when you weren't even there?

JustMeAndWheatley · 19/07/2021 17:20

Your mum

Hankunamatata · 19/07/2021 17:21

The driver is responsible for where they park.

gamerchick · 19/07/2021 17:22

Always the driver. Hope she's not asking

EL8888 · 19/07/2021 17:23

Mum. No one made her park in the wrong place. You weren’t there

Rioja81 · 19/07/2021 17:25

Depends. Was she caught out in what seemed like a perfectly ok place to park? Or did she chance her arm on double yellows or similar?

purplesequins · 19/07/2021 17:28

definitely she should pay.
she chose to park badly

Regretsandregrets · 19/07/2021 17:31

If she offered to pick the parcel, she should pay.If you asked her may be you should pay coz she wouldn't be there without you asking her.

AnnaSW1 · 19/07/2021 17:35

Your mum

DeflatedGinDrinker · 19/07/2021 18:44

Defo your mum should pay unless you made her park irresponsible

DramaAlpaca · 19/07/2021 18:46

Her, of course, no doubt about it.

BlusteryLake · 19/07/2021 19:00

Technically your mum, but better to go halves and not ask her again, for the sake of family harmony!

MadeOfStarStuff · 19/07/2021 19:06

Unless you told her to park there, it’s her responsibility. But as she was doing you a favour it would be kind to split it if you can afford it

user27424799642256 · 19/07/2021 19:20

She's a grown woman and responsible for her own actions. I can't imagine being so cheeky as to even ask someone to pay my parking fine.

KarmaStar · 19/07/2021 21:30

Split the bill.💐

UrAWizHarry · 19/07/2021 21:32

I'd offer to pay because it's the nice thing to do, regardless of who's fault it is.

Russell19 · 19/07/2021 21:33

50/50

RolloTomassi · 19/07/2021 21:46

Unless she left her car in a really stupid spot I'd offer to pay, or at least split, since she was good enough to do the favour.

DeRigueurMortis · 19/07/2021 21:47

Her.

You asked her to pick up a parcel not park inappropriately.

She also had the option to decline if she thought parking would be a problem.

pinkphone · 19/07/2021 21:50

My dad got a parking fine dropping me and my newborn son home from the hospital.
He did pay for it - I was rather broke at the time and he wasn't! He said it was worth it though Grin

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 19/07/2021 21:52

Her!
