…to put deodorant on my face?! 😩

So fed up of it. Literally have sweat pouring off my face at the slightest exertion, even walking. Going to the gym is awful. And today the combination of gardening and 25 degree heat means I’m just a bloody mess. Actually I don’t even care if IABU, I’ve just got out of a cool shower and my face is dripping so I’ve just put Mitchum unscented gel on my face. Surely there’s a product specifically for this?! I can’t be the only one 😩

Yes that’s it.

Dollpiglet · 18/07/2021 15:18

I used to have to do this when going on the tube as it just poured down me. The main cure is drinking a lot more water. But then you run the risk of being caught on the tube with a bladder full and it breaking down in a tunnel.

diamondpony80 · 18/07/2021 15:26

I feel your pain. I got this product for going to a wedding because I really needed not to sweat through my makeup (I was a bridesmaid): www.amazon.co.uk/Neat-3B-Face-Saver-Gel/dp/B00553GRAY?tag=mumsnetforu03-21. It worked, but although it was a sunny day then, it was NOT as hot as it is right now. I haven't tested it in this current weather. Was definitely a lifesaver on the day though.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 18/07/2021 15:39

Thank you PPs, I’ll order some! My job is a combination of quite physical and customer facing. I hate having the sweat pour down my face, and it looks especially bad at the moment, but I’m not explaining ‘it’s perimeno and a heatwave, not Covid’ to every single customer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe I could get a badge...

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 18/07/2021 15:43

@TheQueef

Put some face/baby wipes in the fridge for days like today, I used cheapo baby wipes but imagine nice face wipes will be better.
I learnt this on here, probably thanks to you! I use them on my face and neck while in work, and stick one under each boob when I get home Grin
TheQueef · 18/07/2021 15:49

I learnt from Mnet too Beery without the threads here I think I'd have actually 'Gone Off' I felt under siege Grin

I made the mistake of putting antiperspirant on my legs once, polyester uniform in a store and the air conditioning packed up. I passed out.

I know it’s bloody uncomfortable in this heat but I will only use antiperspirant on my under arms.

To cool down use a wet towel, place it on your neck. Also cold water/cold can or bottle on the wrists.

TheQueef · 18/07/2021 15:51

And a big Yes to freezing wipes the night before work/events etc.
My W was epic.

PerciphonePuma · 18/07/2021 15:52

I have this exact same problem! The only thing they can do is either prescription anti-perspirant, pills (Propantheline but they give you THE worst dry mouth you've ever had and dry bits!!!), a treatment called Iontophoresis (but the NHS doesn't currently treat the face - although you can buy machines that come with face masks to treat your own face with) or failing all of those, surgery to switch off your ability to sweat at all. They will very rarely perform this surgery and most Trusts won't do it if you're even slightly overweight!

PerciphonePuma · 18/07/2021 15:53

@TheQueef

I've got patches. Life savers. I used to sit, fan full face (with added ice bowl on hotter days) and it would still be dripping off me. I took to wearing a towel around my neck like a boxing coach. It's shit.
What are the patches called please?

I'm already on prescription Buprenorphine patches for pain so I don't know if I can use others as well, but it would be amazing if I could!

TheQueef · 18/07/2021 15:57

HRT Perci
I know it's not suitable for some but it was the only thing that actually helped for me.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 18/07/2021 17:21

I’ve ordered two products and will update when I’ve tried them both. Thanks again everyone…Flowers

Ahhh, well my extreme facial sweats have been happening since I was 16 so I doubt it's Menopause
JamieFrasersLover · 18/07/2021 17:33

I've used face saver gel and the odaban spray. They make your skin feel really tight and I wasn't that impressed, I still sweated through it. I'm now resorting to botox once I've saved up

SCMocha · 18/07/2021 18:02

I also have severe facial sweating. I have used something called Secure wipes, which you can get via online pharmacies (usually from Canada but they ship everywhere). It's topical glycopyrrolate.

Fluffandbubbles · 18/07/2021 18:33

If you’re getting sweat in your eyes, a quick fix is to use the runners’ trick of a swipe of vaseline over your eyebrows.. the sweat runs along the top and down the side of your face rather than in your eyes to sting.

GillBiggeloesHair · 18/07/2021 19:11

I've ordered this.

Scutterbug · 18/07/2021 19:15

So pleased to read this thread as I am the same! Have also discovered it can be linked to vitamin d deficiency…

Terrazzo · 18/07/2021 19:18

Yes use the 3B face saver!

valnevavaxx · 18/07/2021 19:23

Face saver is alright, although it stinks like an old lady’s handbag.

Odaban stings and literally clogs up your sweat glands, so after a few days it feels really uncomfortable- I felt like I was burning up and not having the release of sweat was really weird.

valnevavaxx · 18/07/2021 19:25

Posted too soon- was going to say my bigger issue is I sweat from the back of my head, which drenches my hair and runs down my neck. Have yet to find a product that helps with that- can’t someone invent an anti perspirant shampoo??

Go see your doctor, there's pills they can prescribe to reduce it.

@TwoBigNoisyBoys Doctor can prescribe a prescription strength anti-perspirant but be warned - it bleaches clothing if you do not let it dry sufficiently before getting dressed. Obviously apply it when you're really cool and dry

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 19/07/2021 22:58

That’s the right one OP. I will say I found with the odaban it tingled when I hadn’t washed it off thoroughly enough. I will admit the first few times i used it (and when I hadn’t used it for a while) it did feel like my head was pulsing a bit when I got very hot but that feeling went away after a few days. It does work but the more long term you use it the better, after a couple of weeks I’ve found it to be very effective. I’ve not been using it atm as I’m pregnant and I’m so glad I don’t have to go anywhere as my head was literally dripping with sweat and had wet roots just from sitting on the sofa today Sad it’s so depressing and mortifying.

Yeah it does work by clogging the sweat glands but it does work lol.
