To report a neighbour driving the whole street demented

We live on a new estate and most of us are homeowners. Last May our next door neighbour rented his house out and ever since it's been cigarette smoke, disco music blaring at all hours, police knocking at all hours, even a suspicion of drugs being delivered to the address. This is despite a very young baby living on the premises (I think he's 2-3 months old.

With the heat and everything, it's lately been a choice of being boiled indoors by heat or opening the windows and having my mind done in by fragments of disco beats being repeated on highest volume until it makes you physically sick, like the worst sort of an ear slug imaginable. DH measured 90 decibels at 5AM this morning!!!

I feel like I'm at the end of my tether. We have so far kept ourselves to ourselves, but I think of reporting her if this happens again. I don't want to cause trouble for anyone, but surely this is CF territory??? And whom do I report it to?

You local council website may have a facility to report anonymously. Mine does

Actual disco music, Like Chic and Donna Summer? That's so random Grin

(Sorry, not helpful)

Good advice as above. You have my full sympathies OP. It's awful. I would say just keep complaining every damn time they start. Or you'll end up where we are. 10 years down the pipeline and still going through the same hell unable to move. Sad

Op, all the above don't wait.
First go around to your other nice neighbours and ask if anyone is suffering dye to the noise and give them the council eh phone no /email.
It takes a few few people to complain to trigger actions possibly 3 possible 5

So knock on as many doors as you can, perhaps set up a what's app group as well, go to the door armed with environmental health numbers, and what's app group, emails..
Also call the non emergency police number and try and encourage them too if they are also concerned about drugs.
Then landlord, letting agent, hassle hassle hassle again, five these details out for the neighbours and finally, please please call ss re the baby!!

But do not go to them directly or complain... They will not suddenly stop all their fun for boring old you.. No!!

Lemonmelonsun · 18/07/2021 09:35

Do it all at one op, don't do stuff in order.

When people say.. Will the police bother with this.. Why not call and ask?

I was also driven to a near break down by neighbours and I sometimes called them and said " I knew they are allowed to do x yz but I blah" and yes.. With a free officer near by they went to have "chats".

Re loud music and suspected drugs I'd also call non emergency police no to say your worried about the baby, loud partly possible drugs.. Az well as contacting ss.

At least police may go in and check on that baby and make sure it's safe Sad imagine a tiny baby waking up at 5am to 90 decibels...

Police don't technically go to noise but again, I've phoned them and they operator could hear the music and got officer out. It usually depends what else is going on. Always try please don't be put off if they can't come they will tell you.

Just be aware that if you are thinking you might want to sell your house you will have to declare any official complaint.

QueenStromba · 18/07/2021 10:26

If you look up the house on Zoopla they might have an archived listing for when it was rented out - if you're very lucky the lettings agents might have watermarked the photos with their logo.

Contact Police re drugs. Mentioning dealing suspicion and fact child on premises. Welfare visit request maybe?
A while back I rented temporarily in an apartment building where drugs smelt / suspected. A neighbour said a resident was evicted for dubious behaviour (drugs, prostitution). Of course advertised as professionals only! We had flyer put in mail boxes from local police citing a reference number if had any observations or future concerns. If you draw attention to police they can at least record concerns, even if no action currently.
