AIBU to think this is not just cheeky, but dangerous?

We have very odd neighbours, with strange ideas on decor and garden furniture to say the least.

Recently they covered the front garden with gravel, and removed the shared access gate and some of the fence. Yesterday they drove their death trap car through the very narrow gap and onto the gravel, partially blocking the shared access used by us and our other neighbours. I suspect that is cheeky f***y.

Our bigger concern is the risk to people going about their business. The gap is right on the corner of a junction, there is no real dropped kerb although it does dip there for some reason. The footpath is always busy with children and parents going to the shop, the road is very busy, and there is no way anybody in a car can see past the fences. I've attached a bad diagram to help you picture it.

So, am I being unreasonable, and if not, who do I report this to?

The dropped kerb is for wheelchairs and pushchairs - I'd imagine the council might be able to help you? You're not meant to drive over a kerb that isn't properly dropped - it damages the pipes under the pavement.

Thanks Pootles34, I think you're right, it's for wheelchairs etc (it's a steep slope, and lethal when we have frost). I'll look on the council website, we if I can find anything.

That looks far too close to a junction to be safe. Definitely contact the council.

Tell them they can't leave a car on a shared access area - you have the right to access at all times.
Speak to your other neighbours first to get them on board.

I've found the guidance for having a dropped kerb, they fail on several counts! I might print it off and post it to them 😉

Our neighbour will be on board for sure!

That is a disaster just waiting to happen. I would report them immediately.

Council for sure!! A dropped kerb has to be done properly, you can’t just drive a car over the pavement- it needs to be properly supported underneath to protect drain or gas pipes.
