To think the bubble should go back on Monday?

My DC bubble burst this week. Not due back till end of next week, so 1 day before end of term. School has sent a note today saying that they have had an update from the DfE and they will no longer have bubbles from Monday 19th. Any positive cases will be handled by track and trace and whole school bubbles will not be sent home anymore. They will not identify close contacts - parents/the child will work with track and trace.

Part of me feels that my DC bubble should return on Monday and the close contacts of the positive child should be traced through track and trace, allowing all the other children back?

Or, because the bubble closed under the 'old' rules - should they all continue to isolate?

Has this happened in your school? What do you think?

YABU - the kids should still isolate till the 10 days is up
YANBU - the kids should go back now the rules have changed

I think they should be allowed back to be fair

They dropped the whole bubble thing at my DC’s school some time ago. It’s now just close contacts so those who sit close to the positive case or play with them at playtime. I was incredibly grateful for this when someone tested positive a few weeks ago in DD’s class. She hates homeschooling and is honestly an absolute nightmare so I was very glad she didn’t sit near the person and still got to go to school.

I agree they should let your DC’s bubble back in, makes total sense.

Just happened to my eldest. Bubble burst. Despite sitting at the opposite end of the classroom and never talking to him she has to isolate until a week on Sunday. School have said this still applies despite dfe no longer doing “bubbles” as of Monday. THe school however will still continue with bubbles for the last week of term however, as apparently it’s too complicated to change to a new system this late into the term. My child will be seeing grandparents for childcare due to my work and I’ll take her out for walks everyday (quiet places). I will not risk her mental health again for a scenario that is extremely low risk.

I think the choice to get rid of bubbles now is that school’s choice and many will just be starting afresh in September.
I’m in the same situation as you and it sucks.

Well it's good to know that we're not the only ones in this situation.

I know it's a nightmare for the schools as well to decide how to proceed.

I think I'm just clinging on to any hope of them being back!!
