sweat pants (nearly) falling down

Please help: when I go to the gym, my trousers start to slip down, especially on the treadmill. This has happened my entire gym going life, from being (fairly) young and slight to much older and larger (and yes, I have bought new trousers to match my size). So please, wise ladies of Mumsnet, can I draw on your sartorial expertise and suggest solutions or alternatives. Shorts would not work, as I do not wish to show up the lovely ladies of love island (Haha). Sorry, but I am posting for traffic, my post pandemic size requires drastic measures and gym going is one of them.

just wear standard leggings and ensure they are the correct fit. Sweaty bettys have great sales and you could at least try some on and ask for the correct fit. you might be buying them too loose. I am very 'slight' and my gym gear has never fallen down!

I have the most brilliant pair of American Apparel winter leggings. They are so thick and keep everything supported but I don’t know where you’d buy them nowadays.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 16/07/2021 00:17

What leggings have you tried? Might help us work out what's making them fall down for you.

I swear by sweaty Betty zero gravity or power leggings. Also like one type of nike. Do not like adidas or Reebok- they fall down hugely

AnnaSW1 · 16/07/2021 08:07

I used to have this problem. The only ones that stay up for me are Decathlon ones.

Thingsdogetbetter · 16/07/2021 08:13

Running shorts with a tight elasticated waist over the top of the leggings. (I have a fear of camel-toe. Lol)

tealandteal · 16/07/2021 08:40

I buy leggings from Rainbows and Sprinkles as I like bright prints. I run on the road but they stay up very well and don't have see through bums!

ThinWomansBrain · 16/07/2021 08:46

I've never had a problem with leggings falling down - and my waist is about the same measurement as my hips (and sadly not in a good way that my hips are disproportionately small) - but jeans are a nightmare.

Maybe I need to test them on a running machine moreHmm

I know what you mean - buying some leggings means I have to make sure they are not falling down every minute. I always buy Ronhill leggings (available on Amazon, about £25/pair) and they do the job well for me.

MoiraNotRuby · 16/07/2021 08:50

Get a Tights Up belt. Brilliant things.

TheDogsMother · 16/07/2021 08:58

I have M & S Good Moves cropped leggings and they stay put through all types of exercise. T

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 16/07/2021 09:08

Spend about twenty quid on a pair of leggings on amazon that have a high waist and elastane content (Queenie Ke or Riojoy), or buy high waisted compression running tights.

It is possible that you're buying your stuff too small, rather than too large, though.

@covilha

Thank you *@Lockheart and @user1471878824*. I was hoping high wasted leggings would work- and bought a pair last week. But no, as soon as I was on the treadmill they attempted the downward descent. Drawstrings seem to work there way loose too, as I had a couple of pairs but they just became looser the more I rang.
Try proper running leggings and in a smaller size. They should be tight fitting.
