What if it messes my body up more..or worse?

Had covid 2020, not massively ill until a month later when I started with horrific symptoms..tingling, high anxiety, chest and leg pain..plus many more frightening situations. Had head cr scan, chest x rays, blood tests, heart ecg..all ok, but I still wasn’t well. Not 100% better but a huge difference. I’ve been left with mcas type symptoms and inflammation and rake daily anti histamines. I can’t drink alcohol, coffee or eat high histamine foods without a frightening reaction.
I’ve accepted my current state and take supplements, reduce stress etc,
I have no underlying conditions, am 43 and have never been massively ill in my life, in fact my immune system was always very strong..or so I though 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m terrified of going through this all again, but I’m also terrified the vaccine may make me worse, when I’m gradually improving.
I keep hoping and praying for some v strong, clear evidence that means I’m protected by antibodies now.
My heart and chest area still flares up and it’s clear my body still becomes inflamed, especially due to hormones and so on.
Is anyone else in this situation? I gave a small daughter I need to take care of.
I’m just so frightened.

What does your consultant recommend? Tbh I would be looking to have the jab in a hospital setting given your current issues - if it is recommended medically that you have it at all.
Can absolutely understand you being terrified. Hope you get better soon.

@LittleOwl153 I’m another country and the rule here is only one vaccine if you’ve already had covid. But you need proof of that via test etc, but of course in March 2020, that wasn’t possible.

@LittleOwl153 I’m just under my doctor, it took so long to even get some understanding about the whole thing, in spring/summer last year, he had no idea what was going on. Now he has more info, but I’m not sure as feel pressure to have it to get back to being allowed to participate in life, but not at the cost of my health! 🤷🏻‍♀️Or would it be better to get it, in case I catch it again and then if really messes me up

My Dsis has long Covid or at least she hasn't been given a definite diagnosis yet but has been having tests etc and they have said there is some sort of immune issue.
She has been researching the vaccine herself and apparently there are people who are getting a reduction in their post viral symptoms after having the vaccine.
So she has decided to take it.
She is able to get it in a hospital though so will be in the best place if something does go wrong.
Is that possible for you?

M0rT · 13/07/2021 22:39

When I say researching she has been reading journals etc not actually working ok research as she has limited mobile hours in a day!

I had covid last summer and symptoms, heavy chest, chest pains, lethargy to the point of nearly falling over, inability to walk to the end of the garden without feeling like my legs were going to cave in (am 41 and was running up until covid no underlying etc) only suddenly disappeared in the last two months. I got both pfizer jabs. Back to the really really tired thing and very muzzy for a few days after each. I can't advise you, I was jumping to get it but just bets of luck in whatever you decide, hope it all calms down for you

BonesJones · 13/07/2021 22:46

I had covid in November. I am definitely not the same person I was (mega fit and healthy). Took months to get over it, and I still have some weird stuff going on that I 100% attribute to covid. My GP keeps dismissing it as stress but it really isn't! Long story short, I had the 2nd pfizer last week and I'm FUCKED again. It's set me back so far, except now life is at full pelt again so I'm having to really REALLY struggle through. I'm so upset that I've sabotaged myself. Realistically I know that I probably will be fine within a week or so, but the symptoms and fatigue etc is EXACTLY the same as the post covid stuff which went on for months and I'm terrified it's not going to go away again. I'm so upset, especially since I was fine after the first jab so felt confident getting the 2nd. What makes it worse is that no one believes me. My parents are kind of disinterested, my partner has major health issues so my strange catalogue of health niggles seems like small fry compared to what he's dealing with, and I just have to carry on for everybody else. I've already said I won't get the booster.

Theworldisweird · 13/07/2021 23:21

@BonesJones So sorry to hear that. I can’t go through all that again, or worse

@M0rT Yes, looked into it lots too, seems to be a mixed response. Would be incredible if it actually helped make things better 🙏 it just feels like a huge gamble and one I’m completely unprepared for or with no help or advice, just to ‘Get vaccinated’

@stayathomer Have you seen any other effects after the initial ones?

Redwinestillfine · 13/07/2021 23:58

My friend had long Covid. Vaccine one made her nosedive again, she had just got back to work and had to take more time off. Jab 2 pretty much cured her. Bizarre.

Redwinestillfine · 13/07/2021 23:59

Hers was AZ if it helps.

BatsInTheCellar · 14/07/2021 00:13

I've been in hospital with neurological symptoms several months after covid (numbness, nerve pain, tingling etc). DH was also admitted with long covid related chest pain. We've both also had crippling fatigue which is just beginning to improve.

We've now both had 2 vaccinations (AZ). Normal tiredness and aching for 24 hrs after the first one, maybe a couple of hours of aching the day after the second one. Neither of us have suffered worsening symptoms of long covid following vaccination. DH still gets flare ups of chest pain after exercise, but it's definitely improving. He could only walk for 5 -10 minutes five months post covid, and is now able to walk for a good 45 mins eight months on.

Hope that's a bit reassuring for you and I hope you continue to recover.

Theworldisweird No, was lifting something heavy the other day and was waiting for the burn and nothing happened so here's hoping!
