Clappingforjoy · 13/07/2021 18:22

Ds is due to go to a amber list in 2 weeks and we are in the dark over what his rights are as he is going with friends and they are all not in a position to isolate on return.
I have also read that the country he is going to is banning all unvaccinated from bars etc from the 16th of July. Anybody in a similar position.
Its with jet 2

What do you mean his rights?

Amber list of countries and territories
You should not travel to amber list countries or territories.
www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#amber-list

Amber list countries and territories
What you must do if you have been in an amber country or territory in the 10 days before you arrive in England.

Changes to international travel rules for amber list countries
From 4am Monday 19 July you will not need to quarantine on arrival in England or take a day 8 COVID-19 test, as long as you:

have been fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme
have not been in a red list country in the 10 days before you arrive in England
Fully vaccinated means that you have had your final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before the date you arrive in England.

You will need to:

declare that you have been fully vaccinated on your passenger locator form
show proof of your vaccination status to your carrier (ferry, airline or train) when you travel
Read about how you can use the NHS COVID Pass to show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status.

Children under the age of 18, who are returning to the UK, and people taking part in formally approved COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials will also be exempt from requirements to quarantine and take the day 8 test.

If you are not fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme, you will have to quarantine on arrival and take both the day 2 and day 8 tests.

If you arrive in England before 4am, Monday 19 July you must follow the rules as set out below, even if you have been fully vaccinated.

Can he get a refund if he can't go because his friends can't or change destination even now they are still flying out I mean its hardly going to be worth it if they are not allowed in anywhere due to been unvaccinnated

Looks like he could lose his money on this one

If unvaccinated he cant go there without isolating upon return

Clappingforjoy · 13/07/2021 18:30

Can't get through to jet 2 either

He must isolate upon return plus pay for PCR tests both outward and returning.

He took a big risk booking it and may literally pay the price. I doubt Jet2 will have much sympathy. Best check their small print.

Thecatisboss · 13/07/2021 19:01

Probably not get a refund and insurance won't pay out as this is a foreseeable event.

Is it Greece? I believe unvaccinated can use the outdoor areas of bars / taverna's etc but only vaccinated can book an indoor table. To be honest all that has been available there for month's was outside seating. I'm sure Jet2 will let him move the date to next year though x

Clappingforjoy · 13/07/2021 20:19

Its Zante one of the greek Isles I just read today about unvaccinated not been allowed into bars etc I can't see that working out for a bunch of 20 year olds. Does this rule apply to locals and tourists does anybody know?

Yes it is for tourists and locals. My friends live on one of the Islands and they have been told it is being reviewed in August
