Were likely watching the game on the BBC last night?

31 million watched, 4/5 of them on BBC as opposed to ITV, because they are simply better broadcasters.

Completely right feeding. I guess a lot of people don't like the idea of their data being used but also don't realise how much valuable data they are generating for the commercial broadcasters when they watch on demand. Those ad slots are sold to advertisers based on profile data that is generated by viewers. It allows advertisers to target you directly, far more so than with live TV. We're all commodities to any commercial broadcaster.

No tv license, no football. Winning on both accounts Smile

@Doyoumind

My point is that people, in significant numbers, chose the BBC over ITV so there's some reason for that.

It wasn't about people who don't watch live TV or don't watch football.

But the vast majority or them ARE paying the license fee.

What do you think they should do, pay but also boycott it at the same time?

The problem is that how the fee is enforced and how you can't choose to not have bbc channels.

In all liklihood, I would keep paying. But that's doesn't mean I can't also dislike the way its enforced and lack of choice.

I’m betting OP either works for the Beeb or TV Licensing.

OP, people are allowed to complain about the cost of the TV liicense if they want, they pay your salary.

Women convicted and jailed

No. Women in prison who happen to have a conviction for non-payment of the fine taken into consideration.

It's not the same thing at all.

Decriminalisation - not.

I gave up paying for a TV lisence at age 70 - 5 years ago. I have no intention of getting another just becuse this government has decided to scam pensioners.

Semantics. Women are being jailed for not paying the fine.

They don’t ‘happen’ to be in prison, they’ve been imprisoned Hmm

I object to the fee because I have to pay for things like football, men's football that is, that I am not remotely interested in.

I'm old enough to have paid for a licence when it was rare to see a woman read the news, panel shows were almost always all men, the disgusting commentary on the first London marathon about how, "the girls' have now come up through fun runs..."

Its a lot of money especially if on a low income and more likely to not have the option to watch online instead. I don't mind paying but I think rate seems too high compared to the alternatives now.

I think there's less difference in quality these days, they all seem to have a couple of presenters that use for everything so comes down more to personal taste.
I don't watch live many events and usually record and fast forward through the ads on other channels although it is nice to watch show without the constant bloody post ad recaps that programs insist on doing.

The content on the bbc channels often is bit dull when I flick through to what I later find on iPlayer which doesn't make much sense, but the BBC normally have subtitles available compared to subscription service which is a frequent frustration of mine.
