This is a teen who isn't bothered about football but fell into the hype. Face like a storm this morning. Not rude to me at all but looked like he would explode any minute

We're used to it in Scotland. My DS threw an absolute wobbler when we got put out. He got sat down and told its difficult to deal with the disappointment but we're proud of our team and you just get on with it! England done brilliant, it's an achievement in itself getting to the final!

He better get used to it, plenty more disappointments to come if he wants to follow England in football!

I haven't seen my teen DS yet but he is moody according to my ex! He went upstairs in a sulk when England lost and he shouted at him this morning that he isn't going to school. My ex decided not to argue with him and hasn't sent him.

He is interested in football but he doesn't normally get moody over it.

None of mine are bothered.

DS8 was pretty down in the dumps as he had England in his class sweepstake so has missed out on the prize (not even sure what the prize is - probably some sweets or something!) I'm fairly certain that was the only reason he took any interest in the football in the first place!

Confiscatedpopit · 12/07/2021 13:30

Plasmony- are you fine with that?

Livpool · 12/07/2021 14:38

My DS is 5 and cried this morning when I told him the result. I felt so bad - I don't think being a football fan is for him

My son got Italy in his class sweepstake, so he was happy whatever the result.

He's hoping his prize is more than a pencil though 😂

Yes but they didn't watch the football and are moody everyday.

My teenage DS was very disappointed and grumpy last night after the game and for awhile this morning.
I just kept up a matter of fact ‘its not the end of the world’ attitude and ignored the grumpiness.
Now he has decided that we are winning the World Cup next year instead and has resumed playing the “It’s coming home” song on repeat.
Someone send wine and gin please Grin

My adult DD were talking about the game today and some of the ridiculous reactions.

It's a fact of life, that you learn as you get older, that to really understand success, you have to experience failure.

That is true for life as well as sport.

In our case we both support the same football team. We have both sat through pretty dire games. And we have had the unbelievable highs of coming back from 3:0 down to win the champions league, the same with going 3:0 down to barcelona, and winning 4:0 in the second leg.

But without those games where my team came second, id never have felt the euphoria of those times when we've won.

I think it's fine and pretty normal to take setbacks like this so hard when you are young. It's pretty tragic not to be able to take those setbacks on the chin, and hope for better next time. Instead to spread bile and nastiness to others is such an immature reaction.
