Fil brought round a card presents and flowers for my birthday I thanked him when he dropped them off to me, in the card was mil bil and fil name I went to see mil and co today and thanked bil but didn't thank mil despite her asking me if I had a nice birthday ? Was I being rude ?

Yes obviously very twatty to do a reverse however look at the replies when it was the other way round !

Of course she was rude. But was it pointed or did she just not think

I'm not sure if it was pointed, I get the impression she doesn't really like me but won't let others see that, in the past she's really come between me and my partner

It depends really.
My MIL would know that I bought and arranged her gift, so I would sort of take note, being as the women in our family do tend to take the wheel with gifts etc...

On the other hand, she may believe that her son got her gift, arranged and signed the card and then DD did hers, and your mum did the one from her....and that your involvement would have been minimal.

I would however not get into it. Just disengage and step away.

Oh then fuck her and completely ignore any little digs like that.
