Feel excluded at work

I feel my supervisor at work is excluding me, not sure if I am just been a bit sensitive about it.
Every morning he does a quick briefing with each member of staff about their role for the day, he never does with me just usually tells me to carry on doing what I usually do but he doesn't say it to me he will say it to another member of staff whilst I am in ear shot.
He doesn't tell me about any changes in the work place that I would need to know about that affect my work I always have to be told by one of my colleagues.
I feel excluded 🙁

That definitely sounds odd. Can you have a direct chat with him about it? Don’t make it about feeling excluded (which could put him on the defensive), but maybe frame it along the lines of “would it be possible to have an extra touch-point every day or two, to make sure I’m in the loop on everything I need to perform my role”?

It does seem strange if he has those chats with everyone except you. I'd ask to have a word and explain how you feel and ask if there's an issue.

Have you asked why he’s doing that? Most of the time people just simply don’t realise they are treating people differently. He might think you don’t need a 1-1 convo as you’re just going to do the same thing every day, and not realise that if he is telling everyone their role 1-1 he needs to do that with you even if it’s to tell you to keep doing what you’re doing.

Either he will go OMG sorry didn’t realise and start doing it, or he will fob you off and keep doing what he is doing. If it’s option 2 you have a proper workplace issue - I’d consider it to be bullying behaviour if it’s deliberate and continues after you have pointed it out.

Have you talked to anyone else in the team about it? Not to stir or anything but it can help to have a quiet word with a friendly person, you might get some interesting info eg he has excluded someone before.

Is there any background, are you new, are you the person everyone assumes doesn’t need help because you’ve been there since time began, have you had any beef with him? None of this would excuse but sometimes can explain.

I have been doing the role for 10 years, I have only recently returned to the role after been off with an illness/shielding for 15 months. A lot changed in the 15 months completely different team to who I worked with before and also a new computer system which I am having to train myself with he hasn't spent any time showing me how to use it. I was confident in my role before been off sick but now feel a bit lost and even though I know what jobs I need to do daily, it would be nice to be included in the team briefings just to make me feel like a member of the team.

You haven't answered the most important question - have you asked your boss why you are not being included or raised the issue with him?
