What car seat for a Houdini 2 year old that lets himself out?

Yes, I can tell him to stop.
No he does not stop.
I will keep telling him to stop, but in the mean time need to find a car seat that he can't let himself out of when I'm doing 70 on a motorway.

I had a Janet one (I think that's what it's called) but he reached down and loosened those straps from about 18 months.
Now he's 2 and undoes his current one which is just a Cuggl from Argos.

Help!

I don't think anyone suggested one with a lap cushion did they?
@oreosoreosoreos did, I think they have the Cybex Pallas

Cybex sirona, I use it rear facing without the lap bit. My tiny 5 year old is still in it and cannot undo the buckle, I have to use two hands to do it!

I got a friend who was a policeman to turn up one day in uniform and give DD a ticking off 😳.

You have my sympathies it’s a nightmare (am too old to have had all these great things wish they’d been around 20 years ago)

The Houdini clips are great - make sure you put them high enough up though.
You can also get waistcoats which velcro on to the straps and stop a child wriggling their arms out from under the straps. Worked for DS.
You can also put a button up shirt on a child and do the buttons up over the straps. This would take longer to get them out in the event of an accident.
For older kids, crelling harnesses are very good and will stop them getting out of their seat.
(I answer this question a lot for work!)

Jessica, if you don’t mind me asking,

What area do you work in? And what do you recommend when crelling harness no longer works.

Thanks.

Have a look at this The 5 point plus anti-escape system, it goes around the straps and around the child's back to cover the space where they can wriggle out of.

A friend tried all sorts of clips and things and this was the only thing that stopped her escapologist DS getting out of his straps.

Danni0509 I'm a paediatric occupational therapist. I've not yet had a child who could escape from a crelling harness - this one, rather than the Houdini clip

Beyong talking to crelling, or the incar safety centre in milton Keynes I'd be a bit stumped but I've not got there yet!
