Feel like a rubbish mum

DS2 fell whilst riding his bike. He hit his chin on the stairs and there was blood everywhere. He got 3 stitches :( I feel like a rubbish mum, this is the first time something like this has happened. I should have done something about the edge of the stairs. Our stair case is a bit odd so we have the baby gate on the 3rd step.

On a side note has anyone got stitches on their babies, I am at a loss he keeps wanting to touch and pull the dressing :(

I just feel rubbish all over. I had to hold him down while he was kicking and screaming while he was getting stitched. Got home, gave him lots of cuddles and now his having his nap.

My daughter fell backwards off a bench in a cafe once, unfortunately the benches were made from steel beams and planks of wood and she hit the back of her head on the steel bit. Lots of blood and a dash to a & e. They glued it and she was totally fine, accidents happen - you can’t predict everything. You’d be a bad mum if you had ignored all the blood and told him off for getting blood everywhere!

Could happen to anyone anywhere, you can't protect them from every edge xxx

My DS1 ran holding the iron gate and when it stopped as it hit a raised part of the ground his head slammed straight into it and he had a lump the size of a small egg on his forehead with a line in it that matched the side edge of the ironwork. He was about 30 months I think - awful.
But accidents happen. He was a good speaker at that age and said I hate that gate, which seemed to satisfy the Dr as we didn’t get the third degree after he said it. But it doesn’t stop you feeling terrible. He’ll recover fine just as mine did. Mine is 21 now! I think he’s forgotten about it ..,
