NOw, now, not all thread starters have been around as long as we have (strokes long molars).

Tis tedious though. Wot next, grapes in supermarkets?P&T spaces?

kneehighinnappies · 24/11/2007 17:02

gosh how original

LoveAngelGabriel · 24/11/2007 17:12

While we're (loosely) on the subject, can I please yawn rudely at the current spate of 'ear piercing: it's child abuse!' threads...? Thanks.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2007 17:57

What we need is a FAQ bit

Q) How long is the longest thread title?
A) Well, at one point, it was tested and a poster managed to fill the whole screen with one thread title but we put a limit on the length after that so now you can only have XX characters.

Q) Where do we stand, collectively, on ear piercing?
A) XX% of MNers think it is child abuse for under the age of 5....

Is this the online equivilent of ageing?

Seen it all, done it all before - boredom coupled with irritation at those who are discovering things for the first time?

Wonder if there should be some kind of special MN ageing structure, a bit like dog years.........

LoveAngelGabriel · 24/11/2007 18:43

pmsl

chocchipchristmascake · 24/11/2007 18:50

I'd rather be unoriginal than smug any day...

NineUnlikelyTales · 24/11/2007 18:54

YANBU.

All posts should be vetted by Older Posters, to ensure quality control and absolute originality

zippitippitoes · 24/11/2007 18:55

Spidermama · 24/11/2007 19:04

I don't think I'd noticed it before and I've been on here about two and a half years so YABU. Big time.

Katz · 24/11/2007 19:09

i love the idea of a faq thread

ScottishMummy · 24/11/2007 19:10

NineUnlikelyTales lol i agree all the ole timers/pedants/nit-pickers/hunphobics should be allocated an editorial role should they chose to clamber for the post

VictorianSqualor · 24/11/2007 19:11

Gosh, what am I going to be like when I've been here a few years, I'm already thinking, 'Oh, not another one' when a new poster gets arsey or someone posts the same thread I've read three times, and I've only been here about 4 months.

Blandmum · 24/11/2007 19:11

Thought this was going to be about someone who posted wondering about calling her baby shagmilla.

ScottishMummy · 24/11/2007 19:16

Blandmum · 24/11/2007 19:17

But you had to be there

ScottishMummy · 24/11/2007 19:18

newbies should be more servile and bitty more respectful to the ole timers and self appointed topic monitors

All newbies should sign my petition to ban ear piercing threads. Come on! Show your solidarity!

Blandmum · 24/11/2007 19:22

much better!

ScottishMummy · 24/11/2007 19:22

Aye genuflect

NineUnlikelyTales · 24/11/2007 19:24

Can we define Newbie please? Is it someone who has been here for less than thirteen generations, like a Gloucestershire village?

In case the pedants pounce, I used to know the correct way to use fewer/less than but 14m of sleep deprivation have killed those brain cells, such as they were.
