It’s a nursery one

Dh picked up DC yesterday. She was playing outside with the older toddlers (1.5 yrs but very big and can hold own and gets frustrating d with babies so don’t mind occasional mixing).

The play area is visible from the street, so DH waited at the gate for about a minute and couldn’t see any staff (his words, this is 3rd hand!) until a member of staff appeared, said they’d get her stuff and went off to get it leaving the kids once again unsupervised. There could’ve been staff inside the doorway that he couldn’t see, but we still feel uncomfortable.

Wwyd?

I'd raise a complaint about that. She could hurt one of the other children before staff could do anything sensible to stop her, and that would be with her for the rest of her life.

First of all, OFSTED require integration between age groups in nursery. But......the ratios for the younger group must be maintained and babies kept safe.

There were no staff clearly supervising children. Not okay. There must be 2 members of staff outside when children are playing.

I’d report to the nursery manager and, of it happened again, OFSTED.

Eh? I'm sure OP and her husband are concerned their child could have been hurt and no staff would have noticed!
