Feel too downtrodden to seize the day

DH has been offered an incredible job abroad. But it just feels so impossible as we are so downtrodden by the daily grind. Our kids range from 3-10 and are hard to put to bed, always so much laundry, life admin, mess as we live in a small house in London. In one way it would be great to have a fresh start. But when I try to imagine actually getting there, it feels like we have too much weighing down on us. If we could have the headspace to discuss and plan then maybe we could make it happen. But the daily grind is so relentless it feels so hard to do it. I wish we could just seize the day and grab opportunities with both hands.

Would taking the job abroad give you the chance to change things that are rubbish about your life right now, such as get into a bigger house? Or would moving abroad mean same thing just in a different location?

Lots of people move with young children. What exactly is the issue?

Our eldest is 10 so that’s far harder to manage emotionally. Not like with an under 5 where they just go with the flow and take things at face value. He was headhunted for a role, so that’s why it’s so tricky as obviously it’s quite a big deal for him and thereby our family too as he is the main earner.

You sound tired OP - understandably it all seems too much to contemplate - a big move like that.

I have done the expat thing a couple of times, and while it’s amazing, and I wouldn’t change it, it’s not all easy. I would advise that you go now before your kids start high school. In fact, life has actually taught me that now is all you have, really. DO IT!!!

Sounds like a wonderful opportunity to shake things up! In what other lifetime are you going to do this OP?
