Changed jobs too many times recently, really need to stay in next one

It’s in care/support work.

I started at a supported living home and worked there happily for 2 months. Then the staff team changed and it was such a toxic environment. The new manager was a complete bully and so i reported her. It was a very toxic team and I requested to move to another project, which I did.

It was looking after a male with learning difficulties. It was great except for the fact that they failed to mention he was physically aggressive. He punched me, some of my colleagues and also attacked a child in the street randomly. I am not blaming him but i did not feel safe at all alone with him, he was a 6ft 4 well built male.

Once again. I asked to be transferred to a new project, and this place was great. The only problem was that they could only offer me 16 hours whereas I had had full time before so I couldn’t afford to live on it. So again I had to leave after a month.

I’ve been doing nights for 2 months now but it doesn’t suit me at all, and no break. So sadly I’m leaving.

Been offered a new job, full time and lone working, non violent clients and I really hope this is the place i will stay at. I feel embarrassed and stupid over this, I usually stay longer In jobs.

However I think the reasons for leavings were valid each time. The first 4 months were with the same employer, the nights are with a different one.
Is this common in the care industry? I really can’t move again.

Yes, there’s many a reason as to why the care industry has such a high turnover. Some include: high risk (or injury from lifting or being physically attacked); low pay; shitty working conditions and pathetic lack of rights (just like the hospitality work thread I posted on yesterday).
Please don’t be ashamed if you find yourself unable to cope and have to leave. It sounds great in principle when you “stick at a job”, as my parents would say, but only you know how it is, OP. I once left a job with autistic people after 2 days because I didn’t feel safe- in one file it said not to use direct eye contact with someone or they’d likely head butt you- I was like fuck that as knowing my luck I would stupidly forget and look at them directly! Residents would continuously pinch, push and pull the hair of support staff which I was not warned about in the interview and sorry, but not comfortable with. Looking, back I felt shit at the time for throwing the towel in so early but there was no support available, the training was dire and the support workers openly bitched about others on the first day meeting.
I also worked for one care agency for 1 month who were shit (nice people but useless at managing others). They would ask you availability and you would say Thursday, Friday and Saturday, then they would bug you at 5am on a Monday as others were “sick” or whatever. You would be made to feel guilty for saying “no, sorry but I’m busy”, and the next week hours would be taken away from you. They would also promise to send you to a small group of clients that’d get used to you and vice versa, but inserts you may visit 25 different clients in 2.5 days. Plus no payment for driving time- 6 hours driving time unpaid.
It’s worth trying a few types of care work, OP. I once had a lovely live-in job with an elderly lady for 7 months. She was v nice, pleasant family and great pay that I could save up at the time to pay for my PGCE and a new car (I stupidly didn’t get on property ladder when it was more affordable!)
Another idea is private care work- advertise locally and look on PO boards. I’ve found 1-2-1 (full time) tutoring and care work with teens with learning difficulties previously.

It's care work I'd say. Marginally better hospital based, but not much.
