I’ve been going through what we’re all doing over the summer holidays and have just realised one of the DC is at a holiday sports club the week immediately before we go away for a week (UK holiday). The sports club was booked ages ago and it never occurred to me before now.

If any of the children there test positive in that time he’d have to isolate and we wouldn’t be able to go away - we’ve all been looking forward to this trip so much. Would you cancel his place or risk everything being ok?

I thought kids isolating ends on 19 July?

I had the same dilemma. I had my 3dc booked into their usual summer camp for 3 weeks. I didn't think we would be travelling abroad this year again but we are now able to travel and I have flights booked for the 22nd July. I cancelled their camp as I was worried that we would test positive (antigen test) before we fly and for me it was not worth it. My children are happy with the decision as they would prefer four weeks in Spain over three weeks at camp. I would definately not send your son,its not worth the risk. Its been a long 16 months and we all deserve a holiday.

Isn't it that school bubbles end the ....but if he was a close contact of an infected person that is going on until mid August.

I think I would look at the holiday and cost to your family of you didn't go. Is the sports club necessary- do you need it fir childcare? If not then maybe don't go.....

I have booked my son onto an expensive course the week before we go....I never thought about isolation.....no chance of money back so fingers crossed.

Looks like school bubbles end 19 July, so I’m assuming the holiday club (run from a primary school) would follow a similar method to schools.

From 16 August anyone under 18 won’t have to isolate if a close contact tests positive.

It would be very handy for childcare, but not essential. DH and I WFH but we do manage ok if the kids are here - it’s not ideal, but we manage.

I’ve found a contact at the holiday club so I’ve dropped them a message to see if they know - I’m terrible at interpreting these rules

Fingers crossed for you! We moved house earlier this year and kept our nursery-aged DD at home (oldest one was at home anyway with the Easter hols) because I was terrified she’d have to isolate and the completion date would have to be pushed back.
