To ask what you're having for (if you've got one) your hangover lunch?

Considering I never used to like football (DH didn't either), having 2 football mad kids has changed that and last night we had great fun.

Too much fun. Blush

So far today I've had a massive slice of toast with salted butter, a bag of salt and vinegar Hula Hoops, a can of Tango and a chocolate biscuit.

Hasn't. Touched. The. Sides.

So I'm asking you, I need to bob to the shop anyway, what are you having for your hangover lunch, and what's your go to? What should I buy? I'm thinking potato waffles might need to feature?

*Disclaimer, I'm walking to shop not driving.

I always crave spice. So either a lamb shish with chilli sauce, Chinese salt and chilli prawns and hot and sour soup or something that’s delivered so no cooking and that pacts a flavour punch

ToastandPeanutButter · 08/07/2021 14:06

@Yellowcrockpot

BTW, my food choices are not recommended as hangover food choices.... or food choices ever really....

More... what have I got in my fridge? Let's eat it all on one big plate.

I'm a disgrace.

I think you're my superhero!

Potato Waffle Sandwich - never had one. NEED ONE.
All of the pasta - yes.
Versions of bacon sandwiches/bagels omg.
ALL OF THE TEA I agree!

I've just stuck some oven chips under the grill for a mid afternoon snack, and am considering sausage and mash for dinner.

I figure, go big or go home is the way to survive today and I'll regain my self respect in the morning?!

I told DH that I wasn't drinking on Sunday night because I have a long run on Monday morning. He just laughed and said 'yeah, right.' Blush Blush

Train smash: tinned tomatoes and poached eggs on toast. HP sauce on top. The Archers/News Quiz/Dead Ringers

To be fair I haven't had a hangover in years, and not because I don't drink, but this was always a Sunday morning brekkers for me and my late DH.

3Britnee · 08/07/2021 14:19

I'd have a bacon and hash brown sandwich.

Yellowcrockpot · 08/07/2021 14:20

@ToastandPeanutButter

I went from hero to zero aprox 12 hours ago Grin

I've now ate:
A pack of prawn cocktail crisps
Some vegan broth drink (wtf? Basically drinking stock)
Crispy seaweed thins

....its starting to get desperate, can you tell we haven't got much edible items in the house atm?!

May i add, this is whilst having all the curtains shut in the house and wearing sunglasses as extra sun block, as the hangover is settling in now.

...also adding, food was consumed... in bed Blush

Oh the hangover shame.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 08/07/2021 14:20

I don’t have a post-match hangover today, but I’ve found after a couple of weekend wines that a Costa salted caramel frostino (no coffee but with cream) is the thing to go for. Then a nap.

DK123 · 08/07/2021 14:21

Prawn cocktail crisps and a ham and cheese toastie

Yellowcrockpot · 08/07/2021 14:23

Also considering if its worth getting DP to pick up fish and chips on way home...
I pretty sure at some point I did emotional drunk time and probably told him how rubbish he was and probably was best we didn't stay together...

As he always forgets to take the bins out. Blush

I think I'm going to ring him and tell him I've given myself a LTB on his behalf. then beg for forgiv.....I mean food.

We had sushi delivered which is always a clear indication of overindulgence the night before Blush

Glad to see we're not the only ones @Herecomesspring1 Grin

Livpool · 08/07/2021 15:02

I don't have a hangover (never had one to my DH's horror and jealousy) but I want all of this food.

I am making a healthy tea and now want with McDonalds or fish and chips. Both pretty much covered in salt

Herecomesspring1 · 08/07/2021 15:02

@Xiaoxiong it has everything you need when you’re hungover! Carbs (rice), protein (fish), spice/heat (I love the spicy pieces), salt (soy sauce) - plus the ginger and wasabi are just an added bonus and wake you up for a bit! Bloody love a hangover sushi delivery!! 😀

Chili in a jacket potato

Herecomesspring1 · 08/07/2021 15:03

@Xiaoxiong (I usually order a sharing platter for myself and eat it in 5 minutes without coming up for air!)

Your not doing drinking right, if you've never experienced a hangover.

Take my hand, come with me.
I'll show you how it's done

oldwhyno · 08/07/2021 16:16

bacon sarnie variant: two slices of white toast, buttered and one with a thin spread of Philadelphia, 4 rashers of crispy streaky bacon, 4 thin slices of fried tomato.

Janaih · 08/07/2021 16:27

I had a full English this morning. Lunch was a latte, paprika crisps and malteasers biscuits. Dinner is likely to be takeaway. I'm pushing for a kebab but dh wants Indian.

suspiria777 · 08/07/2021 17:15

@ChainJane

Hula Hoops, the plain ones. Coke or energy drink (sugar ones). Max out on the paracetamol, as much as is allowed. Shit-load of water too.
paracetamol and alcohol are both hepatotoxic so paracetamol in any amount will do more harm than good -- whether that's prolonging the hangover (best case scenario) or causing fatal liver failure (worst case scenario). Ibuprofen or aspirin is a better choice if you have a headache due to hangover.
Herecomesspring1 · 08/07/2021 17:18

I have had chicken/peppers/onion fajita ingredients marinating since yesterday afternoon - was going to have them for dinner last night but we felt it wasn’t right and so ordered dirty kebab shop pizzas to eat pre-footie. We should cook them tonight but my hungover self wants nasty food again! I can see the fajita stuff going in the bin…
