To think this has to stop

I work in the NHS we currently have around 25% of our staff absent either due to being told to isolate by the track and trace app or isolating because their child has covid. Most of our staff have had their 2 vaccines. We are at breaking point and at some point we are not going to be able to provide a service. Surely we can’t go on with this isolating because of track and trace. I dread to think what it will be like after the 19 th. is there going to be a point when they realise with such a high percentage of the workforce isolating it’s going to have a massive impact on the services we provide.

As nhs you should know it's not track and trace🙈

However, I agree on the point as we all know the app is not really fit for purpose

I believe from 16th August you no longer need to isolate if you're double jabbed unless you test positive of course. Doesn't help now of course

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/07/2021 20:09

Yep 16th August has been announced today as no more isolation for those who have had 2 jabs.

@Wearegoingtoneedabiggerboat

NHS worker here too - I feel your pain we're the same in our trust staffing is becoming a total nightmare;

2 weeks ago 9 members of staff from our oncology suite were off with COVID related absences which has a massive impact on people but then oncology patients are extremely vunerable and they have to be very careful

It's a very difficult situation for everyone and I agree there has to be a better system than this

omgthepain · 06/07/2021 21:43

August is also difficult owing to lots of annual leave being taken too for capacity - we've had an email asking staff to yet again, review their leave and to postpone from august if they are able

I'm not moving mine as I need it for childcare over the summer Holidays

Our Trust wouldn’t allow staff to self isolate! We do a PCR test, if it’s negative, it’s back to work as usual, regardless of how long it’s been since contact with the positive case.

I just got out of hospital today and there were plenty of nurses working but one nurse was very upset and said she’s fed up of being passed from pillar to post, she looked knackered.

CoopsMalloops · 06/07/2021 21:50

My friend is a police officer and they are encouraged to not use the app.

omgthepain · 06/07/2021 21:50

@Zebraaa
That sounds a much more sensible approach if we've been in contact it's 10 days from contact or 10
Days if people are looking after children

We were saying today that if they don't re-think this by August when lots of staff are off (who they're currently trying to ask to cancel leave!!!) then they'll have a real problem especially as numbers increase as restrictions are lifted.

In the NHS trust in which I work we had an email from HQ months ago telling us to turn off the app!

I am on the fence as to whether or not YABU as I can see both sides - we obviously need to protect our colleagues and patients, especially those who are immunocompromised. However, as the email stated from our HQ - the app could ping when you’ve been sat on your lunch break on a bench outside or something and potentially had someone walk past you that tested positive so you aren’t necessarily at risk of having caught anything.

It’s a tough one 🤔
