I’m going to make cherry jam and a pie, but would love to know if anyone has a spectacular cherry recipe they want to share Smile

Lovely suggestions, thank you! Definitely going to try a clafoutis - closest thing I’ll get to a french holiday this year…

Cherry curd

Yup, pit some and freeze them.
Use as stewed berries (with pancakes for example), or pop them into a glass of fizz to flavour and cool it.
Also good for crumbles, etc.

Cherry Cake!

Seconding all of these - lovely summery thread

TheSpottedZebra · 06/07/2021 21:21

Sell them. Cherries are fucking expensive.

But the curd sounds good, too.

RoyalMush · 06/07/2021 21:22

Also- how could I forget!! You could make a mostly cherry, summer pudding. That is the food of the gods.
Tip: do not try to make this with mother’s pride type white bread- it goes to mush as soon as it gets wet. You’ll need a tougher bread like sourdough IME.

Find a local foodbank who accept fresh food & make some struggling families really happy?

Make cherry brandy, it'll be wonderful - I make damson brandy every year and it's fab in the cold weather Smile

NotTheMrMenAgain · 06/07/2021 21:39

.....and then, when the brandy is ready and you strain it, you'll be be left with lovely squishy, extremely boozy cherries. They'll make a wonderful pie or hot sauce for ice cream - but my favourite would be to mix them with melted dark chocolate to make little piles of liquor chocolate deliciousness Grin
