To be slightly obsessive about how much I dislike this woman at my post natal group.

When my lot of mothers moved into the group, we all got on great with the older babies and mummy's. They were a wonderful source of information and we all chatted together. Then about 6 weeks ago the new group moved in with us. Their babies were about 3 months old and even though we welcomed them and tried to talk to them, they all seem to congregate around this one horrible woman.

I despise her.

On that first day her ds was screaming and she was shoving her bongela soaked finger in it's mouth and instructing the other mum's to do so. She talks really loudly about how bf is a chore and woman should give it up early as it holds them back. The other day she was spooning baby rice into her ds's screaming mouth saying he loved it but it was being sprayed everywhere. The other mum's all look to her because she seems so confident but I wanted to grab the baby rice, hold her down and shovel it down her throat.

OMG I know I'm being petty, but she's now started to show up at the other group I go to and at the baby cinema where she talks really loudly and she doesn't even try to soothe her crying baby.

This feels better to have a moan.

Um you sound a little bit petty tbh.

Sushipaws · 23/11/2007 22:22

Yup your probably right.

She'd get on my nerves....but then I can be very petty

cornsilk · 23/11/2007 22:24

I think I know some women like that!

Sushipaws · 23/11/2007 22:26

I feel sorry for her poor child.

When she's mouthing off have you tried saying "Shush! Use your indoor voice"

Vulgar · 23/11/2007 22:34

I think the worst thing about a person like that is they just overpower everyone else and manage to make you feel like you're the only one that feels you don't think the same.

please forgive me if i'm not making sense but i remember other mothers making me feel really inadequent when really I was doing Ok (inretroscope).

Sorry for the bad spelling!

It helps if you can see the funny side! and don't worry about being petty. She sounds petty IMO!!!

fireflyfairy2 · 23/11/2007 22:35

She'd get on my nerves too actually

Hey, we can't all get on, can we?

cornsilk · 23/11/2007 22:36

I know exactly what you mean. I've met people like this and just can't be doing with them. Eventually everyone else usually comes to the same conclusion. Let her get on with it.

ScottishMummy · 23/11/2007 22:36

empty vessels make the most noise force feeding a baby wrong

don't worry she will soon be rumbled - grit teeth til then

Twiglett · 23/11/2007 22:37

you have seniority

she has a younger child

put her in her place immediately

DrBunsentheHarpsichordCarrier · 23/11/2007 22:39

god she's getting on my nerves already

southeastastra · 23/11/2007 22:39

why you all get together with 3 month old babies is beyond me.

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 22:40

Right (rolls up sleeves) - I don't think there is anything wrong with a bit of bonjela for a teething baby - prefer Anbesol myself but still, I don't know why but breastfeeding is a chore for some people - not very blooming helpful of her to go on about it - but in fairness to her she may feel very bad about it and want to get other people on her side so to speak to mitigate that BUT forcing baby rice on a screaming baby - the woman is plainly NUTS. Messy, messy, sticky ugh!

I presume she is not a first time mum? Tbh - I know I'm a source of interest at my baby group 'cos it's a lot of first time mums and the fact that I'm on my third seems to amaze intrigue them. Unfortunately I'm a great disappointment as I tend to say 'ummmm just sort of go with the flow really' when asked anything. Unless they say 'how much does your baby weigh' when I proudly reply 'not a blinking clue - haven't been near the health visitor for months' This seems to surprise them But I digress.

YANBU - she's sounds like a pain in the neck - but I think she is probably having a tough time - do you think she actually feels able to soothe her baby - might she be not coping? Does she seem to be enjoying him at all - or is it all instructions to everyone else?

There's always someone you don't click with in my experience! I deal with it by going home and saying to dh 'you'll never guess what x said'

I feel like this about my sister in law
Mainly we disagree about everything

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/11/2007 22:40

absolutely twiggy.

hildegard · 23/11/2007 22:40

go on, say something to her and then report back.

NorthernLurker · 23/11/2007 22:41

Twiglett - rofl!

pointydog · 23/11/2007 22:41

it's not uncommon to take a dislike to someone for no valid reason. A slong as you relaise you;re being a bit irrational, it diesn't really matter

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/11/2007 22:41

Talktothebees - LOL, I would have to say that with a big smile on my face. But I'm too scared, there's more of them than us

Vulgar - Thats totally what I mean, she takes over and the other mummy's all look a bit lost .

I would wait till the others realise she's a moron but I feel she may be one of these people who barges through life and doesn't notice why people start avoiding her.

This week she was on about teething again, you'd think her baby was getting it's molar's by now.

Ok, whinge over, now I can just go to group and be smug that I've had a bitch about her to a few thousand mummy's on mn
