How have I only just found out that babies are born with no knee caps!

Dd 14 just told me babies are born without knee caps I though she was taking the p but it's true, how have a had 3 children and studied child development and only just discovered this???
What else do I need to know?

@horselover1987, they are born with cartilage that is soft and doesn’t show on x-rays and will slowly start to ossify into bone over a number of years until they have hard knees. Ain’t the body wonderful!!

And sorry not to be pedantic as it was probably autocorrect but it is learning curve not learning curb.
