Back pain

Repost from Health as no traffic there.

I've had lower back pain, on my left hand side just above my hip since last weekend. It's a throbbing, niggling pain. Went to GP and urine is clear, no temp although I do feel tired and flushed. Definitely not pregnant and not women's problems. It's just constantly throbbing. GP said probably muscular

Have you tried ice or heat? Does heat help with the throbbing at all? For back muscles, it seems to usually be heat, both to get them to stop spasming, and to help with healing. If you’ve already tried heat, and it wasn’t helpful, that’s good to know, as it tells us more about the injury. (And for the record, if the heat doesn’t help and you haven’t tried ice, try it at least once, but make sure there are layers around the ice pack so that it’s cold enough but not so freezing that it will cause your back to spasm).

Back pain is also unfortunately one of those things that could be MANY things. One of your nerves could be a bit inflamed or pinched. It could be anything from an appendix starting to get angry to constipation (your colon is slightly to the left and the discomfort can radiate if it is overly full). Muscular is the easiest answer so I would try to treat for that, as I said, and then go from there if it doesn’t work.

It could be any number of things. If it isn't easing, can you afford an appointment with a private physio? They generally charge around £35 a session, but, in my experience they are excellent.

I have a long term issue with my spine and never see my GP about it as they generally just give painkillers. My physio is awesome though Grin
