To ask about after sun

squiddylama · 02/07/2021 21:21

Went to the beach today and even though it was cloudy I've managed to get burnt (wasn't warm either!!!!)
Problem is I have issues with the smell of after sun. Ever since I was pregnant with DS it has turned my stomach (think it's the aloe smell) and I cannot stand it, it makes me feel physically sick!
Does anyone know of an after sun that doesn't smell of aloe - I've done a quick google but it's hard to tell!!

Doesn't have to be sunny or warm to burn if there is high UV. Could you just use a body moisturiser instead. Maybe put it in the fridge so it's cold

squiddylama · 02/07/2021 21:38

Thanks @dementedpixie in my defence when I left this morning we had thick fog so didn't even question sunburn!

YABU to use after sun, the damage has been done, you’ve been sunburnt, after sun makes no difference to the burning.

Obbydoo · 02/07/2021 21:57

Cocoa butter might work for you?

But aftersun/moisturiser will soothe the dry skin and maybe help prevent peeling
tabulahrasa · 02/07/2021 22:06

Just use any moisturisery stuff... that’s all it really is, with some aloe in it.

Watch for very perfumed ones they can sting a bit.

Sudocreme

My answer to everything

mamakoukla · 02/07/2021 22:10

La Roche Posay Posthelios

mamakoukla · 02/07/2021 22:11

My Greek friend swears by natural yoghurt

LittleOwl153 · 02/07/2021 22:13

E45 lotion is what I always use on all of us even if skin is just a bit tight from the sun.

MaggieFS · 02/07/2021 22:13

Any moisturiser will do.

PP is right in as much as any deep long term damage has been done, but there's plenty you can do to alleviate discomfort by moisturising.

It doesn't make it hurt so much though!

Based on the above comment Korres have a yogurt after sun. Doesn’t smell of aloe. Also, the pharmacy I buy them recommended to put them in the fridge prior to use. Heavenly.

romdowa · 02/07/2021 22:21

I just use burn spray with no aloe as I'm allergic to it

suspiria777 · 02/07/2021 22:41

aloe is really drying and irritating to the skin anyway, you don't want to use that even if you do like the smell. Calamine lotion, and/or a moisturiser with urea in.

thefourgp · 02/07/2021 22:42

Sudocrem - there’s nothing better for sunburn

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/07/2021 22:43

Any old moisturiser is fine

DareIask · 02/07/2021 22:53

Treat it like any burn... a cool shower to take the heat out and avoid anything greasy.

BashfulClam · 02/07/2021 23:00

Cold water, it is a burn so treat it like one. I put cold cloths onto sunburn.

squiddylama · 02/07/2021 23:10

Thanks all have had a cool shower and have dug out DS sudocream!
