They open at 8. I’ve been calling since 8. It just rings out and now I can’t get through at all.

What the hell is the point of being a doctor that no one can get through to?

@hedgehogger1

We know the NHS staff are overworked but if it's taken 7 appointments for *@Lepetitpiggy* daughter to be diagnosed with something that could have been done at the first appointment.... if things are done properly the first time it saves a lot of resources
That was my reaction too. If an issue is not resolved after a couple of phone consultations then it surely saves resources to see the patient.

the solution can only come from the government choosing to properly create, fund and resource NHS and GP services. GP surgeries can only do what they can with the resources available. And quite apart from the difficulties arising from covid, there were already too few doctors in this country before it even started

You could throw billions at the NHS and they would still say they were underfunded

Having been through dh’s supposed “cancer treatment” which seemed to consist of

GP - There is nothing wrong with you (multiple appointments)

GP - There is nothing wrong with you. Stop using Dr Google you are just frightening yourself/take these for your constipation
(a few more times)

GP Go straight to A&E

A&E You are dying. The cancer is everywhere. Why didn’t you come in before this

Consultant There is an operation that can save you but we don’t fund it. You have to go private if you want treatment. (Probably we didn’t have the correct postcode).

All the time witness to some very wasteful the practices

There is something very wrong and very rotten within the NHS. From our own experience we no longer trust the doctors as they just don’t appear to know basics
Dh had his prescription for insulin stopped and when he complained he was asked did he still need his insulin for his type 1 diabetes
If a doctor doesn’t know there is not a cure for type 1 diabetes then you have to question their qualification,

You only have to look at what the NHS are advertising as a way to get everyone to get the vaccine to know something has gone awfully wrong

I am not going to post the link as I think it needs to come with a government cringe warning.

justasking111 · 03/07/2021 14:53

My GP retired early she wasn't a partner just a wage. If you referred to a consultant too often the practice was fined. Now with covid backlog they're told no expedite letters will be acknowledged so don't bother sending them. This is from administration not the consultant I should add

wasthataburp · 03/07/2021 14:56

It's the same here. They just don't answer the phone, won't let you walk in and they have take. E consult off the website. Place is empty.

No idea what they are doing it's a disgrace

If that's true then you ask your MP, health board copying in the practice manager asking why?

Keep it polite

wasthataburp · 05/07/2021 09:51

@justasking111 I have tried the health board route. No response. I will actually try contacting the MSP though.

Our surgery is so bad, so many people have questioned what is their reason for taking up a prime development site.

There is murmurings of someone starting a petition to get the place closed down.

I have lived in the area for 20+ years and slowly it has got so bad that even those who can’t afford to end up going private because they don’t do anything

As a practice they don’t prescribe sleeping pills (apparently they don’t work)

They don’t prescribe HRT

You cannot get an allergy test (they don’t exist)

You cannot get an appointment within 2 weeks.

They constantly knock anyone who has repeat prescriptions off their books citing that you have moved house

They question whether Dh still needs insulin for type 1 diabetes or has he been cured as they randomly stop prescribing it

Dd had measles and was told by a doctor that he wouldn’t know what measles looked like. No one at the surgery would do it was pointless in me bringing her in or anyone coming out to see us.

They missed Dhs cancer. One doctor mistook it for a hernia and tried to push it back into his stomach.

I have been questioned sarcastically about why I think I know more than doctors. If you met the doctors in our surgery I think most people armed with Dr Google (which one of them used at one appointment) would have a better idea of what was going on.

Bythemillpond · 05/07/2021 11:08

And the practice manager is completely disengaged

TeacherNMum · 09/07/2021 20:27

@Lepetitpiggy

Just before this, she was allowed in to talk about her mental health so it's not as thought they weren't offering it. It's such a shame.
@midsummerflowers agree with this post. It’s not right that the issue wasn’t taken seriously, especially given the fact that you could see them for your mental health issues so recently.
