To think my friend is being a cynical user and I'm being a gullible twit?

Imagine you...

1- give your friend space to advertise their business and services on your Facebook platforms, which have 3000+ members

2- do some work for your friend for free, knowing they will make a little money out of it

3 - invite your friend for first coffee catch-up since lockdown hit - only to get an 'I'm very busy right now but here are my coaching session fees' response.

Am I being unreasonable to be pissed off?

I'm not sure it's an automated response, but I am confused. Does it say 'here a list of my rates' or does it have a specific and precise sum that must have been calculated? Do you owe her money for sessions? Have you had any sessions? Did you assume they'd be free in a kind of reciprocal arrangement?

Hi - it was a Messenger reply - if it had been email I would have assumed it was automatic

Yes she's a life coach, I've never taken coaching sessions from her and don't owe any money!

You can create automatic Messenger responses now - I would give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was either automatic or she has a virtual assistant working on her business messages who didn't realise you were a personal friend. I'd phone her instead of messaging.

Ah, messenger is doing auto replies too, I know when I've messaged companies you get an auto reply so maybe she's using fb as business contact page?

BlackCatsRule88 · 01/07/2021 20:07

As PP mentioned, you can set auto responses on FB messenger. She might not even realise it goes to everyone who messages her

peboh · 01/07/2021 20:09

Yeah I'd assume automatic reply. I think you've jumped to conclusion here.

That's clearly an automatic Messenger reply.

Try texting her?
