To think benefit money should go in promptly?

I haven’t been claiming for long and both times on the date it’s due to go in it hasn’t. Currently on hold.

I mean, how hard is it for bank transfers to go through promptly?

I agree. It should be a reliable source of income and go to you when you’re due to expect it.

Could it be that your bank is slow at processing it?

I agree. If you're told a date it should be that date. It should be heavily automated and reliable.

It's funny how money out always manages to go instantly! 🤔

It's the same with bookmakers, it's strange how withdrawals from some sites go into your account instantly but others can take a week or more. Not talking about huge sums either, £20 here and £17 there.

This is the DWP’s fault. They still send payments via BACS instead of faster payments - so it can take up to 5 days to clear.

NBU
They also know many people will have absolutely no access to other money to bridge any gaps.

That's terrible OP. I'm not in the UK, but benefit money here goes into the bank every week on the day it is due to and is available the next day. How hard can it be?

LucindaJane · 01/07/2021 11:17

I've always got mine on time. Is it universal credit? Did you declare anything that needed to be declared on time? Perhaps that's why its held up. I was late declaring my income once and thought my UC would come in late. Have you left a message on your journal?
