Just started taking it due to not being able to take lithium in pregnancy. It is completely knocking me unconscious! It says sleepiness is normal but asleep as soon as I take it (half in the morning g half at night). It means if I have to go out somewhere in the day then I can’t take it. Im due to increase the dose in 2 days and im worried.

Suddenly being unmedicated will not be best for you or your baby. Please talk to your gp.

@PandasCatsWolves

I've been in MH hospital for long periods and seen people arrive one after another get out on quetiapine and literally gain weight in front of my eyes. I gained 2 stone. Made me so hungry snd fucked up metabolism.

Weight came off after it.

And yet I've been on it for 6 years and never gained weight.

But even if I did I'd rather be fatter than dead. It's a balance of pros and cons and I'm not sure that when OP is struggling on day one it's helpful to make her panic about weight gain. It's not the case for everyone

I take 600mg a night (bipolar) and it’s changed my moods for the better so much but must agree it is a nightmare for gaining weight. I’m currently hitting 14 stone at 5ft 2 but have lost over 3 stone on it about 5 years ago so it isn’t impossible & I’m determined I’ll lose it again. It does make you very sedated though and not everyone can cope with it but in my case it’s majorly better than being as I was unmedicated

I had to drag myself through the day - just wanted to lie about sleeping. Also kept having hunger pangs - for sugar unfortunately. But I didn't take it for more than a week or so - possibly I would have adapted to it but I stopped taking it.
It's strange how these drugs affect people so differently.

I took it while pregnant with ds2 and for a while afterwards

I was BFing and couldn’t wake up for night feeds. I’ve never known sleepiness like it Blush
