It's fucking brilliant and has turned my life around. I have more energy, I can concentrate, I've lost a stone without trying, I've been promoted at work and my facial hair has completely gone. I am unstoppable!

This is truly amazing stuff. It should be considered for all peri women as routine before looking at alternatives as necessary.

Thanks, @BertramLacey. I have actually read other theories that a plant based or vegetarian diet brings on menopause up to five years earlier, so who knows? I had such a hard time with GP - 'You're too young, the average age is 51!' And yes, I guess I was a bit young, and that was even worse, cos my youngest was only little.

@Loudestcat14

I'm in my sixth week since starting and I feel bloody amazing. The best bit is the brain fog lifting, I'm so alert it's like I'm mainlining Red Bull. Any woman who wants it should be given it without question. My GP was ace and gave it to me on the spot, but I know so many women who've had to beg for it.
I've found it a life changer too after feeling awful for 18months. My dr just said, "I can't believe you didn't ask sooner!" My sleep, mood, energy/everything has transformed and it is a huge relief.

@HRTevangelist so my doc was dismissive of listening to why I want to try HRT before a blood test.

I said I had loads of symptoms. She said to check bloods first.
Am thinking i'm peri &!still regular so it won't show in bloods.

Surprise surprise it didn't.
Dr. Said nothing more to discuss on notes as I only found out when ringing up to see if results were back 🙄

I wrote a scathing message to the practice today. Awaiting a call from the manager now.

Honestly, i just want to try the bloody stuff. I NEVER normally go to the doctors. Am just so fed up of feeling like crap all the time.
The list of symptoms I have is as long as your arm. Apart from irregular periods.

Why is it so hard to get doctors to listen?! 🙈🤷‍♀️

@PrettyLittleFlies I really hope I can get the chance to try it too. Sounds great Smile

The menopause board here has lots of information, including the NICE guidelines for prescribing HRT, which a woman can recite to their GP if needed.

Symptoms don't come back if you stop, the HRT (which is body identical) treats the symptoms. If you stop taking it and still have symptoms, they would still be there if you'd never taken it.

My mother was fit and healthy. 'Sailed through' the menopause. In her 70s she suffered a spinal fracture, and was diagnosed with osteoporosis. She later broke her foot turning over in bed. Being in menopause (you're not through it, you enter it and stay there 😂) is the gift that keeps on giving, for decades!

Some women have few or no symptoms, some suffer terribly. Surely rather than bitching over the OP's wording we should be agreeing that the most important thing is to raise awareness and campaign for GP's to get their act together.
There are too many women that have been feeling shit for months or years not realising their brain fog, anxiety, sleeplessness, joint pain, sweats etc are menopause symptoms.
Too many women asking their GP's for help with these symptoms and getting offered anti depressants.
Too many GP's not astute or caring enough to spot the symptoms and offer treatment.
I'm finally on the Minera coil and HRT after 2 years of going to the GP and being fobbed off with filling in leaflets to see if I was depressed, stressed or anxious. I'm starting to feel better but also increasingly angry with my GP for never suggesting that I could be peri.
HRT isn't for everyone, granted, but GP's should offer us information to allow us to make an informed choice.

Lucky you! Say it's not everyone's experience. I'm on my 4th trial with hrt, 3 months in and I'm still waiting for everything you describe. At least this time I'm not feeling much worse, but I'm still as knackered, my sleep is still dreadful, anxiety still getting in the way.

On this basis, I would say that it's i.pietsnt not to go on about it to others, because their experience might be very different, frustratingly.

AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying · 02/07/2021 20:12

Totally @J0nah
Experiencing so many symptoms.
I'm not depressed. I'm mid 40's. It all fits. Just want to try it 🤷‍♀️

TellySavalashairbrush · 02/07/2021 20:22

Yes it should be readily available. Wish I could tolerate it. I got horrendous breast pain on femoston and had to come off. I hate the achy joints and brain fog I have but I couldn’t cope with the breast pain.
