I am considering acupuncture to help with my perimenopause symptoms and was wondering about peoples experiences of it.

I have a friend who credits acupuncture with curing her infertility so I have heard some strong opinions of it. And another that says it prevented her from taking HRT.

Aibu to ask for your experiences as balance- good and bad!

I thought it was a load of rubbish and refuses to go for years

I had terrible hayever which left me with constant flu for years of my life

In 2003 I caved in and went very reluctantly

Came out cured! Not another sniffle til this year

@Learningatmyownpace

Anyone tried it for insomnia?
I did.

It worked brilliantly at first.

The first session I had I slept for a solid 8 hours afterwards - the best night's sleep I'd had in several months or even years.

But it's become less effective over time.

I think part of it is certainly psychological.

I usually fall asleep during a session though - and it's not comfortable lying on your back being stuck full of needles - so there's obviously something beneficial going on.

I had acupuncture for migraine initially. I went from having 2-3 attacks a week to one every 3-4 weeks after 2 treatments, and the frequency massively reduced. I also found it tremendously helpful for back pain, recurrent cystitis, and quite a few other things over the years.

Sadly, the guy I went to moved from London to Devon, and I never found anyone as good again. But if you're in N Devon, I'll happily pm you his details!
