Isolating due to close contact, siblings!

What happens if you have more than one child and one has to isolate. How do you get the others to school if the isolating child isn't old enough to be left home alone. No family around to help, don't know many of the parents and dp who works all the time but could probably do one school run a day - but it still leaves the other to do!

Are children able to leave the home to get into the car to drive their siblings to school? (parking outside the school with windows up and staying in car). The school is literally a 1 minute drive from home so not far! Obviously we usually walk it! Not able to be left at home alone as too young but old enough to be left in the car for a couple minutes!

Wwyd?

This happened at our school today. People brought the siblings. Some were driving, some were walking.
There were masks all round.

Take them in the car. Seems like the best option.

Interesting to know. I thought it was a total no to taking them out! He'll be fine in the car for a couple minutes - if that!

Thanks! Thankfully the school is only a 1 minute drive away so won't be going far! Feels incredibly lazy driving but needs must!

At ours the siblings are allowed to do the online learning if they don’t have someone else to do the school run.

This just happened to me, I am a lone parent and I don’t drive so I had to keep all 3 off, school didn’t offer any help which is fair enough

When 10 year old was isolating I left her in the car. (She's sensible)
When 6 year old was isolating. I parked where I could see school entrance and let 10 year old walk in alone. 6 yo is not sensible.....

Drive and leave isolated child in view in car....NO to walking, stay isolated.

AttaGirrrrl · 28/06/2021 22:20

I took mine in the car - my older one is old enough to walk in without me though so it was okay for me to stay with DC2.

Absolutely. Wouldn't have considered walking. It's only a few minute walk but he would come across lots of people so no way!

We had the same at my school, parents either left the isolating child at home for a few mins, left them in the car or got another parent to pick them up. Car sounds easiest in your case!
