AIBU ?
Attending a BBQ on Saturday afternoon and evening at a neighbour’s. Daughter’s boyfriend is a salesman at the local Audi dealer.
Was talking to him about new cars, converting to electric, etc…. in the next decade and that from 2030 the Government have said that petrol & diesel cars will no longer be available. He’d just sold a car earlier that day for £105,000
AIBU to ask how the hell are we supposed to afford to switch over to electric cars ?
I will be looking to purchase within the next 12-18 months a replacement for my current car. If I intend to keep that for 3-4 years then by the time I want to change that up for something newer then it’ll be 4-5 years until we are supposed to go all electric so if I buy petrol or diesel next time will it be as good as worthless by 2025/26 ?
I’d probably be looking at a Hybrid next time but they are all still so expensive. A reasonable run of the mill family electric car is about £40,000 !
Anyone else thinking that it’s a fantastic idea but how are we all going to afford it ? Not just that but how would someone who lives on the 6th of a tower block charge their car ?
