Hair extensions or a pixie cut?

I've been growing out a pixie cut which was very short for almost 10 months now. It's a chin length Bob when it's straight, the only problem is that it looks awful unless a hairdresser does it.
It's not all a uniform length yet which doesn't help, and most days it flicks out majorly so I look like the lady from Balamory.
I had a fringe put in too which was a bad idea as it just looks like a mop.
Even if I try to blow-dry it myself it looks awful, and i don't want to damage my hair by doing it every day.

I've got some hair extensions which I can put in. They're good quality but still a pain to look after, or I can go back to a pixie which does suit me. I like to change my hair often and I get comments about this a lot from friends, however many of them have had the same style for most of their life, which is up to them but they think I'm some sort of oddball as i change mine a lot and it makes me feel self conscious.
I know I do suit a pixie, i just need to keep to one length. I feel it looks awful currently, and too short to do anything with.
What should i do? First world problems I know!

I've decided I'm going for the pixie. has anyone ever had success selling hair extensions? I paid £400 for them and don't want them to go to waste.
