Hi I’m posting here for traffic as I urgently need to identify this pest

I have recently moved into a house and have noticed that I have these bugs in one room. I’ve seen one or two in my bedroom actually on my bedding but I just assumed it was a tiny bug that had flown in as I’ve had the windows open due to the hot weather.

The side where I’ve seen them the most is to the back of the house facing the back garden and it has lots of trees so again I just assumed they had flown in when I had the window open.

Over the weekend I was sorting some things out and saw several in a clear box and it has started to worry me now. I’ve done some googling and it’s bringing up bed bugs and carpet beetles and also skin beetles.

The house is a housing association house, and to my knowledge the previous tenant did keep dogs.

Thank you

Carpet bettle

Raindancer411 · 27/06/2021 17:26

Sorry hit send accidentally. They are carpet beetles and at this time of the year can come in. If you had an infestation though, I would have thought you would see more. Just give all carpets a good regular hoover

Appleofmyeye05 · 27/06/2021 17:30

I don’t currently have carpets as they were ripped out before I moved in and to my knowledge the previous tenant did not have carpets in either bedroom. With this in mind, would you think it is a severe infestation since I don’t have carpets?

Yup carpet beetle, I see a couple from time to time they make me cringe

I know a family, through work, who bought a new carpet, cheaply, and it was infested with these. The council sprayed it for them, they couldn't hoover for a while afterwards I remember. It solved the problem.

Agree with carpet beetle. Buy indorex online and spary around the corners of the room and under furnishings/behind wardrobes. Also hoover every single day.

Chunkymenrock · 27/06/2021 17:59

I'd buy a spray tbh, to kill them. You need to clear them completely. We've ended up with a clothes moth problem and it's become a nightmare as we didn't take decisive action right from the start.

Carpet beetles - their larvae do as much damage as moths.

The larvae are called woolly bears, but they are not cute, can eat skin particles and cause allergic reactions with their 'fuzz'.

Thank you so much I’ve just hoovered everywhere and will do every day and will also get a spray or a bomb of some type to kill them
