We've just moved house and need a safety gate for our toddler for the top of the stairs (she's now wise to the mattress laid across the top and other things we've used) but none of the standard ones will work as one side is wall and the other is a curved bit of banister.
Has anyone found anything that works for a similar space? Thanks so much

A handyman fitted one for us in a similar spot and fixed a bit of wood onto the bannister that he then attached it to.

Similarly we attached a bit of wood onto the banister and then fixed the stair gate to that and the wall.

Does the curved bit have a flat piece at the top and bottom? If so screw a piece of wood to it and use that to attach the stair gate.

Would this work? roller blind type stair gate

We put them on bedroom doors instead

I got the baby Dan guard me retractable style for the top of our steps with some extra panels. One side is on a slight angle of a door frame and the other is a screwed bit of wood on the bannister it's the only style I could fit here and I love it because it folds back on its self so nothing to trip over or constantly move.

DH just fitted one to the top of our staircase and it required pieces of wood attaching to the bannister to make it happen.

On the one hand my DH is far from a ‘handy man’ so I’m quite convinced if he managed this almost anyone can. On the other hand it’s taken 5 weeks and 3 trips to B&Q Grin

As above.
I just screwed a piece of wood to the bannister then attached the baby gate.

Bit ugly because I haven’t painted it to match yet but it’s safe.

We’ve got the dream baby retractable one on the same style stairs. Works perfectly well. But if attaching it to the skirting board at the bottom you will then need the spacers for the top so it evens out the depth. We found we needed to attach it as low as possible otherwise DD just crawled under it.

I've got a Y-shaped bracket to go round our curved banister post on that side. The other side is screwed into the wall.

DS has a different stair gate on his room door, too, so this one is just an extra layer of protection.
