The worst thing about the Sam Smith song for Spectre was that producers chose it over the originally commissioned (and brilliant) Radiohead song:

Thunderball isn't so well known

John Barry worked in Monty Norman's original Bond theme into the song

It is one of the worst.

It has a promising intro and then just fails to deliver....anything, really. There is little vocal challenge, and little melody.

Goldfinger may be dated, but still makes the hairs on the back of one's neck stand on end, especially that last note, so powerful and held for such a long time.

Live and Let Die also has real power, and goes well with a genuinely scary Bond film.

And I loved Skyfall. People are being really picky about diction. The precision of the way Adele hits her notes, especially over large intervals, and the clarity and power of her singing is reminiscent of Bassey in Goldfinger. Another one which will stand the test of time.

I am listening to all the songs whilst wfh, just enjoyed Thunderball.

Thunderball is good too, forgot about that one.

I like the instrumental from On Her Majesty's Secret Service too. I think I like brass instruments.

However DH says All Time High from Octopussy is hands down the best Bond theme EVER and will not be swayed. His second is Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better

I didn't remember Another Way to Die at all so I googled it. It's shit. The only good thing was that Weapon of Choice by FatBoy Slim came up on the recommended list on you tube.

@ButYouJustPointedToAIIOfMe Blondie were asked to do For Your Eyes Only and they wrote and recorded a song. But it was rejected by the Powers That Be because they wanted Debbie to perform the song they had written rather than her own, and she refused. They gave the gig to Sheena Easton because she was happy to sing what they wanted.
