Would you say this is sexism?

Yesterday there was a debate on GMB on whether women work harder than men.

And they got a business woman who said that for some jobs she only employs men and for others she employs women she gave examples e.g. logistics. And for men she said heavy lifting and chefs.

Is this even legal by law saying this openly? When another guy on the debate tried to say it could be deemed as sexism she later made a post on instagram accusing him of "mansplaining" and during the debate she says how women suffer all the time and how hard she has worked as a women etc...

I mean we can all agree women do suffer in most jobs (e.g. childcare, pay gap, not taking as seriously etc...) But does that make it okay for her to say this job should be done by men and this job should only be done by women?

Sorry meant reverse sexism

She's not open minded at all about what jobs men and women can do. She's sticking solely to standard gender stereotypes.

She is running a business efficiently, as she is absolutely right for the highest majority. Can't see anything wrong there.

So many women refuse to see a male doctor. If you employed a female to cover the requests, would that be sexist? Yes. Would that be wrong? no.

But that can be seen to be different. Women feel more comfortable talking about their health issues with women doctors because they feel they can resonate better with the issues they have.

But saying things like solely women should do logistics and men should solely be chefs is not accurate. Because there are men who are also good as logistics and women who are also good chefs.

of course, but why should one person waste time trying to find out the exceptions?

Being a chef, unless childcare issues, is not gender related.
Heavy lifting? The majority will be men.

How many women do you see digging the roads or collecting rubbish? Technically they could, but if you were looking for one, you'll have the vacancy opened for a very looooong time!

Yes it's obviously sexist. There may be some truth in what she said but that doesn't stop it being sexist. If she actually adopts those attitudes when it comes to hiring employees for specific roles she will find herself in court sooner or later.

The fact that men are stronger on average does not mean that all men are better than all women for a role where strength is necessary.

BTW I loathe the term "mansplaining" - as with "gaslighting" it's used incorrectly most of the time, usually by people who refuse to have a debate and want to shut down anyone who contradicts them.

Yes but if a strong woman decided to apply for a road digging job then she should be treated equally to a man who applied. They should be judged on their ability, experience, qualifications, that sort of thing.

They shouldn't be rejected just because they're a woman and therefore on the balance of probabilities are less likely to be able to do the job.
