to think that as I am nearer 40 than 30 that I should be allowed to buy a bottle of wine without presenting ID?

it is embarraasing i'll grant you that. the same thign happened to em in my local offlicence.

went in after school run to grab a bottle of wine for dinner, which i do two or three tiems a week, the same woman who serves me very time asked me for id and my date of birth when i couldn;t proxduce any she refused to serve me.

i had ds1 (10) ds2 (5) and dd (18 months) in tow, i dreaxd to think how old she thought i was when i had ds1 (i'm 31)

kimi · 21/11/2007 21:28

I last got ask for ID at 28.

mm22bys · 21/11/2007 21:31

I'd be happy too.

I was really upset a couple of months ago when I went to an Italian sandwich bar for lunch, and the guy addressed me initially as "senorita", then took a second look and said "ah senora". I was gutted.

I am 34....and admittedly I was wearing my wedding ring and I did have at least one child with me!

rantinghousewife · 21/11/2007 21:34

I did try pointing out to her that my ds will be able to legally drink in 4 years time. She didn't look very sympathetic.

sorry. i would be soooooooooooooo happy!!! but then i know i look like a haggard old trout!!

nappyaddict · 21/11/2007 21:46

just cos you have a ten year old with you doesn't mean he is necessarily yours though.

Also just cos you have a ds and a trolley full of shopping again doesn't mean you are over 18

I work in a pub and I hate id-ing people cos I am rubbish at guessing how old people are. Was going to id one girl once and then my sister told me she was in the year above her at school and was 28

bookofthedeadmum · 21/11/2007 21:47

I've been asked for ID a few times so I'm quite used to pulling out my driving licence photocard as ID. It's always been an occupational hazard with me - I never needed one of those u-16 bus passes and often got child fares at 19 .

bookofthedeadmum · 21/11/2007 21:49

mm22bys - I had an Italian bf and he told me that they tend to address women over the age of 25 or so as signora as a courtesy. Probably in the olden days, an Italian lady of 25 would have been married long ago with a few bambimos .

HomeintheSun · 21/11/2007 22:02

I got ID'd when I was 20 and I wanted to buy a lottery ticket, the child behind the counter said "are you sure you're over 16" to which I said Yes thank now can I have my ticket, now I would love to get id'd, I have bags under my eyes bigger than the average 18 year old.

redclover79 · 21/11/2007 22:39

I work on tills and I'm crap at judging how old people are! However, bearing in mind what would happen to me if I did serve an underage person etc. and got caught (£80 fine, court appearance, criminal record, lose job, potentially unemployable!) I always err on the side of caution!! Think my record is late 20's

Elffriend · 21/11/2007 22:46

I would be bloody delighted! I knew my days were numbered when people stopped telling me I looked yung for my age... Never been ID-ed..

zookeeper · 21/11/2007 22:49

You are not only being unreasonable you are barking mad

ScottishMummy · 21/11/2007 23:01
